4.7 Do a 2-point calibration

Chemical exposure hazard. Obey laboratory safety procedures and wear all of the personal
protective equipment appropriate to the chemicals that are handled. Refer to the current safety data
sheets (MSDS/SDS) for safety protocols.
Chemical exposure hazard. Dispose of chemicals and wastes in accordance with local,
regional and national regulations.
Notes:
• The calibration curve of the sensor is set at the factory for performance to specifications. No user
adjustments to the factory calibration curve are recommended unless required by a regulatory
agency for compliance reporting purposes, or a large repair of the sensor is done. Contact
technical support for more information.
• A 2-point calibration changes the default offset and slope value.
• Do not let the contents of an ampule freeze or the ampule can break.
• If the standard ampules are refrigerated or freeze, increase the temperature of the standard
ampules to room temperature, keep at room temperature for 24 hours, then shake the standard
ampules for 30 to 60 seconds before use.
• Heat will degrade the phenanthrene standards if the standards are stored at 35 °C (95 °F) for more
than 12 hours.
Item to collect: Calibration kit
1. Clean the sensor. Refer to
2. Select SENSOR SETUP > [select sensor] > CALIBRATE > 2 POINT MANUAL.
3. If the passcode is enabled in the security menu for the controller, enter the passcode.
4. Select an option.
Option
Description
ACTIVE
The controller outputs continue to represent the last measured value during the
calibration procedure.
HOLD
The controller outputs are held at the last measured value during the calibration
procedure.
TRANSFER The controller outputs change to the transfer value during the calibration
procedure. Refer to the SC1000 Controller user manual to change the transfer
value.
5. Put the supplied valve in the fitting on the bottom of the sensor. Make sure that the valve is
closed.
6. Rinse the sensor with deionized water as follows:
a. Fill the sensor with deionized water.
b. Open the valve to discard the deionized water from the sensor, then close the valve again.
7. Measure the first calibration standard as follows:
a. Use a pipette to fill the sensor with the first calibration standard.
b. Open the valve to discard the calibration standard from the sensor, then close the valve again.
