a) Boston valve(s) – please see opposite figure: Unscrew the valve cap (1). Screw the
valve insert (2) onto its base (3) and check that the valve cap stays accessible. Insert
the pump hose end piece and inflate it until you will reach the required pressure (see
point
3).
After
N.B.: A slight air-leak before screwing the valve(s) cap is normal. Only the valve(s)
cap can ensure final AIR TIGHTNESS.
b) Double lock™ valve & Mini double lock™ valve (see drawing on page 3)
Open the valve (A). To begin inflation, open external stopper and pull to extend out (B).
Insert nozzle of inflation device into the extended valve and turn on or begin pumping (C). To close valve: push
in with inflation device until stopper has been depressed, sealing internal stopper (D). Remove device and close
external stopper. Valve should appear depressed into itself (E).
3. Inflate the boat in the order of inflation as shown on the capacity plate printed on the boat (see also figure # 1 –
numbering of the valves).
4. Max. air pressure: The correct pressure for this item is : 0.06 bar
(= 60 mbar). Do not exceed it.
5. Stop inflation when you reach a firm hand. Let the boat relax for
5-minutes then check pressure status with the Sevytest™ gauge.
6. Your boat is equipped with a SEVYTEST™ pressure gauge. The
Sevytest™ device is not an inflation gauge. The purpose is to show
you when to let some air in or out
a) after initial inflation
b) after the pressure has increased or decreased due to
temperature change.
7. The principle of the Sevytest™ is based on the lenghtening of the
PVC under the influence of pressure.
8. Once the boat is properly inflated, note the position of the Sevytest™
indicator. Then periodically check the Sevytest™ gauge and let in/out
enough air to keep the test strip in the same general area.
a) If Sevytest™ indicator is in the "
pressure to) the product.
b) If Sevytest™ indicator is in the "
pressure to) the product.
9. Place the inflatable seats (if they are removable) in the kayak.
10. Fasten the spray skirt cords as shown in the figure below.
If you leave your product exposed to the hot sun check the pressure and deflate it slightly, otherwise the
material might be overstretched. The ambient temperature affects the tube's internal pressure: a variation of 1°C/
1,8° F causes a variation of the pressure in the tube of +/- 4 mbar (0,06 PSI).
DRAINAGE SYSTEM
Your kayak is equipped with a drainage system. The system comprises orifice(s) with plug(s); it prevents the lower part of
the body getting wet when the kayak is used in calm water. It may be a little difficult to insert the plug in a drain orifice.
The tight fit retains the plug until it is removed, for example when the kayak is to be used in white water.
The self-draining bottom is a considerable advantage in white water: it allows rapid removal of water from inside the
kayak and thus improves its performance; it is also an additional safety feature, as a kayak filled with water is difficult to
manoeuvre.
Note: Before inflating your kayak, you can either close the drainage orifice(s) to stay dry, or open it/them to allow water
drainage.
