INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Symmetry VersaGrip™ Laparoscopic
Instrument
Indications for Use
Laparoscopic surgical manual instruments are designed to
be used endoscopically through cannula to perform cutting,
grasping, dissecting, retracting, and manipulating functions.
Product Description
Symmetry VersaGrip™ laparoscopic surgical manual
instruments consist of a handle and a 5 mm shaft, which hold
various 5 mm inserts. The shaft comes in two lengths: 33 cm
and 45 cm. One handle can be used in combination with a
variety of different 5 mm inserts. Instruments have
monopolar posts which allow them to be used for
electrosurgery.
The Symmetry VersaGrip™ laparoscopic handles have an
adjustable grip. They may be used in one of the three handle
positions: pistol grip, hybrid, and inline. To change the
handle position, retract the position adjustment button and
lock the grip in the chosen position. The handle comes in
three sizes: small, medium, and large.

Warnings and Precautions
Before use, ensure that there are no breaks, chips,
cracks,
scratches,
tears,
components on the shaft insulation, handle, or
housing. Do not use the instrument if any of these
defects are present as use of a damaged instrument
could cause unintended electrosurgical burns and
life-threatening complications. If damage has
occurred, discontinue use and immediately return
the instrument for repair or replacement.
The selected output setting of the ESU generator,
when used with Laparoscopic Instruments, should
be set in accordance with the clinician's experience,
training, or by reference to appropriate clinical
references.
The ESU generator may emit non-ionizing
radiation. Carefully read all instructions for the
generator. Observe all warnings and precautions
noted throughout those instructions. Failure to do
so may result in complications and injury to the
operator or patient.
Do not use in patients who have electronic
implants, including but not limited to cardiac
pacemakers without first consulting a qualified
professional (e.g., cardiologist). A possible
hazard exists because interference with the
action of the electronic implant may occur or the
implant may be damaged.
Due to concerns about the risk of potential
carcinogenic and infectious diseases resulting
from electrosurgical by-products (such as tissue
smoke plume and aerosols), protective eyewear,
filtration masks, and effective smoke evacuation
equipment should be used in both open and
laparoscopic procedures.
Use caution when handling the instruments as the
insert tip may be sharp.
