maintenance
The compressor should be checked often for any visible problems and the following maintenance procedures
should be performed each time the compressor is used.
ASME SAFETY VALVE
1. Turn the air compressor on and allow the tank to fill. The compressor will shut off when the pressure reaches
the preset maximum.
2. Turn the air compressor off.
3. Wearing safety glasses, pull the ring on the safety valve to release the air for several seconds. ALWAYS use
your hand to deflect fast-moving air past your face.
4. Release the ring. Air will stop escaping when the ring is released at approximately 40-50 psi.
5. If air leaks after the ring has been released, or if the valve is stuck and cannot be actuated by the ring, remove
the unit from service. DO NOT use the air compressor until the safety valve has been replaced. Use of the air
compressor in this condition could result in death or serious bodily injury.
DRAIN TANK
1. Turn compressor off and release pressure from system. (To release pressure from system, pull ring on ASME
safety valve. Deflect escaping air by shielding valve with one hand as you pull ring with other hand.) Pull ring until
tank is empty.
2. Drain moisture from tank by opening drain valve underneath tank. Tilt tank to remove all moisture.
3. Clean dust and dirt from tank, air lines and pump cover while compressor is still OFF.
CLEANING
Turn power OFF and clean dust and dirt from motor, tank, air lines and pump cooling fins.
IMPORTANT: Unit should be located as far from spraying area as hose will allow to prevent over-spray from
clogging air filter.
OIL CHANGE
1. Allow compressor to run and warm up oil. Unplug unit.
2. Position a pan under pump end of unit.
3. Remove sight glass. Allow oil to collect in pan. Tilt unit to completely drain.
4. Replace sight glass, fi ll pump to the top of red dot in the sight glass. Use Chevron synthetic 5W-30, Mobil 1
5W-30, 10W-30 synthetic motor oil or SAE 30 ISO 100 non detergent compressor oil. Using other types of oil will
cause starting problems.
5. Change oil after every 50 hours of use or 3 months.
Disconnect power source then release all pressure from the system before attempting to install,
service, relocate or perform any maintenance. Service should be performed by an authorized
service representative.
Do not remove or attempt to adjust the safety valve! Wear safety glasses. Check the safety valve
by performing the following steps:
Safety valve must be replaced if it cannot be actuated or it leaks air after ring is released. Safety
valve must be replaced if it cannot be actuated or it leaks air after ring is released.
A large amount of fast moving air will be released when the safety valve is opened with pressure
in the tank. Wear ANSI approved Z87.1 safety glasses.
