Fender tweed amps of the 1950s like the Deluxe™ and Tremolux are
known for the warm, rich, compressed tones of blues and early rock
'n' roll. Guitarists often turn the amp's volume up high, and manipu-
late the guitar's controls for a variety of sounds from pristine clean to
swampy overdrive.
Rock legend Eric Clapton often uses a tweed Deluxe amp when he sits
down to play traditional blues songs. Eric requested a special model
with a couple of unique features: '50s era output tube bias tremolo,
with a more "throbbing" pulse than later Fender tremolo circuits;
and a switchable power attenuator to reduce the speaker's output if
desired. The EC Tremolux amplifier is designed and built to EC's exact
specifications, and is the perfect vehicle for inspirational tone in a
variety of stage and studio settings.
This interesting variation of the '57 Deluxe amp is a must for Clapton
fans, and for any player seeking the ultimate in moderately-powered,
top-quality tube performance.
Features include:
• Hand-wired all-tube circuitry on eyelet board; premium
components throughout
• Circuit based on late 1950s 5E3 Fender Deluxe amp - produces
about 12 Watts
• Single channel with two inputs – high- and low-gain inputs

ON
A.
POWER SWITCH — Switches power on-off to the unit. Both the
POWER switch and the STANDBY {B} switch must be in the "ON"
position to play the amplifier. Switch to the "OFF" position to
completely shut off power to the amplifier.
You can extend the life span of the amplifier tubes by keeping
the Standby switch in the "STANDBY" position for the first 60
seconds each time you switch the Power to "ON."
B.
STANDBY SWITCH — In the "STANDBY" position the speaker
outputs are disabled while power is supplied to the tube
filaments, keeping them warm and ready to play.
Use STANDBY instead of switching the POWER off during short
breaks to extend tube life span and to avoid the tube warm-
up delay upon returning to play the amp.
C.
POWER INDICATOR — Illuminates when power to the unit is
switched on.
D.
OUTPUT ATTENUATOR — Selects the power output of the
amplifier.
