12.7.8 Changing a wheel
DANGER
Risk of fatal injury from flowing road traffic
Bring the vehicle out of the hazard zone of flowing road traffic be-
fore starting any repair work.
Switch on the warning flashers.
Erect a warning triangle.
Don warning clothing.
CAUTION
Danger of accident
Ensure that the ground is level and solid. If necessary, place a
large-scale, stable surface under the jack.
ATTENTION
Perform the wheel change only if you are familiar with the neces-
sary steps for changing a wheel. Otherwise, seek expert assis-
tance.
Use only suitable and undamaged tools for changing a wheel.
Use a suitable commonly available vehicle jack.

1. Park the vehicle on level and solid ground.
2. Engage the parking brake and additionally secure the vehicle
against rolling away.
3. Secure the articulated joint.
4. Remove the ignition key.
5. Use a suitable tool to release the wheel nuts by approx. 1 turn.
6. Fit the jack to the (marked by the corresponding symbol)
mounting point at the front or rear wheel and raise the vehicle
with the jack.
7. Additionally support the vehicle with safety stands.
8. Unscrew the wheel nuts.
9. Remove the wheel.
10.Clean any dirty wheel nuts and threaded studs.
11.Fit the new wheel and tighten all wheel nuts lightly all the way
to their end stops.
12.Tighten the wheel nuts in the specified order (A - E) step by
step.
13.Finally, tighten the wheel nuts in the specified order using a
correctly working torque wrench to 180 Nm.
14.Pull out the safety stands and lower the vehicle with the jack.

12.7.9 Checking the engine oil level

Allow the vehicle to cool down long enough so that there is no
longer a risk of burns.

Oil dipstick

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Switch off the ignition and remove the ignition key.
3. Remove the right-hand side cover.
4. Pull out the oil dipstick.
5. Wipe the oil dipstick and insert it.
6. Pull out the oil dipstick.
7. Read off the oil level on the oil dipstick.
If the oil level is below the lower mark (MIN), top up the engine
oil.
12.7.10Topping up the engine oil
CAUTION
Risk of burns
Allow the vehicle to cool down long enough so that there is no
longer a risk of burns.
CAUTION
Risk of damage
An excessively high oil level leads to engine damage. If the oil
level is higher than the upper marking on the oil dipstick, then oil
must be drained until the correct oil level is reached.

1. Remove the left-hand side cover.
2. Unscrew the screw for the fuel tank.
3. Pivot the fuel tank outwards.
