Programming the additional switch output (ST 411 only)

6.5.1.

General description (ST 411 only)

The ST 411 control unit has an additional switch output which can also be programmed as a firing program.
The switch output on the controller can control an automatic exhaust air flap or an automatic cooling system using a
fan on the kiln.
6.5.2.

Configuring parameters for switch output (ST 411 only)

The additional switch output must be set in the parameter configuration (see Section 10./Parameter no. 45).
⇒ Activating the switch output in the parameter configuration only makes sense if the kiln also has a switched event –
such as an automatic exhaust air flap or an automatic cooling system using a fan.
6.5.3.

Possible assignment of the switch output (ST 411 only)

Possible assignment for the additional switch output:
• Event
With this setting, the switch output is controlled in such a way that its status changes at the beginning of a ramp
(heating and cooling ramps) or soak period.
⇒ Programming the switch output in the parameter configuration (no.45) to an event (value = 1) only makes sense if
the kiln:
1. has an automatic air damper that should close at the beginning of a ramp (heating or cooling ramp) or soak
period and should open again at the end of a ramp (heating or cooling ramp) or soak period.
2. has an automatic cooling system using a fan and this should be switched on at the beginning of a cooling
ramp and should be switched off at the end of the cooling ramp.
• Exhaust air flap
With this setting, the switch output is controlled in such a way that an exhaust air flap closes or opens when the
programmed temperature values have been reached.
⇒ Programming the switch output in the parameter configuration (No. 45) to the exhaust air flap (value = 2) only
makes sense if the kiln:
has an automatic air flap that should close when a certain temperature has been reached and open again when
another certain temperature has been reached.
• Cooling system
With this setting, the switch output is controlled in such a way that a cooling system using a fan is active or inactive
when programmed temperature values are reached.
⇒ Programming the switch output in the parameter configuration (No. 45) to the fan (value = 3) only makes sense if
the kiln:
has an automatic cooling system using a fan and this should be switched on when a start temperature is reached
and switched off when an end temperature is reached.
6.5.4.

Event programming (ST 411 only)

To be able to program an event in the firing program, the additional switch output must first be set to "1" in the parameter
configuration (see Section 10./Parameter no. 45).
Programming procedure:
When programming a ramp or a soak period – while programming a firing program – the switch output can also be selected
for the respective program step by pressing the switch output (event) key.
