3.1

Intended use

Using the snap ring dismantling tool
0 986 613 660 (called dismantling tool in the
following), it is possible to remove the snap ring
F 00V C23 002 from certain common rail injec-
tors (CRI).
To remove the snap ring F 00V C23 002 without
damaging the CRI, an additional adapter sleeve
must be used on some CRIs.
The document "Important information" (1 689
989 345) identifies by type number the CRIs that
may be used in the dismantling tool and which
CRIs require an adapter sleeve.

Foreseeable misuse

Misuse:
The snap ring is removed with the aid of the
dismantling tool from a CRI that is not listed
in the document "Important information"
(1 689 989 345).
Correct procedure:

Never remove the snap ring F 00V C23 002
from a CRI with the aid of the dismant-
ling tool if the CRI is not listed explicitly
in the document "Important information"
(1 689 989 345).

CRIs that are not listed in the document
"Important information" (1 689 989 345) can
be damaged when removing the snap ring
with the aid of the dismantling tool.

Misuse:
The need to use an adapter sleeve for the CRI is
not checked prior to removal of the snap ring.
Correct procedure:

sleeve is needed for the CRI to compensate
for the clearance between the dismantling
tool and CRI.
