designed basket available from specialist distributors.
The Manufacturers specific instructions and recommen-
dations must be carefully followed for use of the above
substances.
When chlorine is added to the water, part of it is wasted on con-
tact with impurities, a part (combined chlorine) blends with ni-
trogenated substances forming chloramines and another part
remains available for disinfection: this is the so-called free chlo-
rine, which should be present in the amount of 2÷3 mg/l.
u Check that the pH, the total alkalinity TA and the water
hardness are correct; if not, act according to the recommenda-
tions in the related paragraphs.
u Set the water filtering cycles according to the intended use
of the spa.
Do not let the free chlorine level drop to below the recom-
mended value (2÷3 mg/l).
u After each hydromassage, or at least daily, it is a good idea to
carry out a chemical control of the pH and the amount of chlori-
ne in the water.
NOTES
- If the chloramines level (combined chlorine with nitrogenated or-
ganic substances) becomes high, it can cause the so-called "chlori-
ne smell", and also irritating effects for the eyes and skin. In this case,
it is advisable to carry out super-chlorination (shock treatment).
- Keep in mind that the ozonator helps to disinfect the water, nor-
mally reducing the need for the chemical additives used to treat the
water.

■ Other treatments for water maintenance

u Anti-algae treatment
To be carried out at the beginning of each season (and periodi-
cally) using a specific product; it is advisable to contact a Jacuzzi
service centre or a specialized dealer for the relative amounts
and methods of use.
u Flocculation treatment
This treatment eliminates any microscopic particles which might
make the water cloudy. It is a treatment which however is not
advisable in spas, since the substances used may deposit on the
cartridge filter and compromise its operation.
u Formation of foam
Anti-foam products are available to reduce the formation of
foam in the water, normally caused by the presence of soap,
suntan oils and other greasy substances. The interaction of the-
se substances with hot water, in particular with a high pH level
(high alkaline content), causes the formation of foam.
u Oily film or cloudy water
These situations are often due to insufficient water filtering, but
are also caused by sunscreen oils, lotions and cosmetics.
It is possible to add flocculants to cause the particles to coa-
gulate into globules which are sufficiently large to be handled
by the filtering system. These globules may however complete-
ly clog the filters. The addition of flocculants makes the water
clearer but the filter must be cleaned following the instructions
given in the "Cartridge filter maintenance" chapter.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

u Keep the spa covered at all times when not in use. In this way,
along with keeping the water from getting dirty, you will also
avoid heat loss and evaporation.
u Periodically clean the hydromassage and suction nozzles.
CAUTION
After cleaning, immediately put the grilles of the aspira-
tion nozzles back in place. These safety devices must co-
ver the suction intake in order to reduce the risk of hair
or other body parts getting caught. The intakes must be
cleaned with the bath empty.
Remember to refit all the parts before re-filling the spa.
The suction intake grilles must be checked at least once
a week.
u The surface of the spa is brilliant, smooth, resistant and long-
lasting. With proper maintenance, care and cleaning, its charac-
teristics will remain unchanged over time. To clean the bath and
intakes, use a soft cloth and neutral liquid detergents, which
must be non-abrasive and ammonia-free.
The most stubborn stains can be removed using thinners
compatible with the staining product (acetone or suitable thin-
ners). In these cases, great care must be taken, drying the thinner
with a soft cloth immediately after removing the stain to prevent
it attacking the surface of the bath.
To restore the initial shine to the surface if there are traces of
scale, use car polish. Any traces of nicotine left by cigarettes can
also be eliminated with cotton wool and polish.
u Regularly clean the headrests using a cloth, soap and water.
You are advised to use protective products to increase water re-
sistance and maintain their shiny appearance.
