EN: Installation Sheet

Description
The DD400 series detector is a microwave verified PIR
intrusion detector and should be installed to optimize PIR
detection. The best detection is therefore obtained with the
expected movement of an intruder perpendicular to the
coverage pattern.
Siting the detector
The dual technology processing of this detector is resistant to
false alarm hazards. Nevertheless avoid potential causes of
instability such as:
PIR risks:
Direct sunlight on the detector
Heat sources within a field of view
Strong draughts onto the detector
Large animals in a field of view
Obscuring the detector field of view with large objects,
such as furniture
Microwave risks:
Mounting on a surface susceptible to vibrations
Metal surfaces that reflect microwave energy
Water movement through plastic pipes
Heating or air-conditioning fans pointed directly at the
detector
Mounting instructions
See Figure 1.
1.
Lift off the cover plate (item 5) as shown.
2.
Open the detector (item 3) and remove the electronic
module (item 4), taking care not to touch the pyroelectric
sensor (item 6).
3.
Break out one or both cable entry holes (item 1) as
required.
4.
Mount the detector between 1.8 and 3.0 m high.

5.
Select mounting holes for corner (item 7) or flat wall
(item 8) mounting.
6.
Use the base as a template for marking screw hole
locations on the wall.
7.
Fasten the base to the wall.
8.
Strip cable for 5 cm and pull it through the cable entry
holes (item 1) and strain relief (item 10).
9.
Replace the electronic module (item 4) and wire detector
as shown in Figures 5 and 6.
10. Replace the cover (Figure 1, item 3), insert the screw
(item 2), and replace the cover plate (item 5)
Walk test LED functions
To walk test the DD455, DD456, DD475, and DD476
detectors, make sure jumper J3 is in the ON position, or the
LED is enabled remotely (see Figures 5 and 6).
In the DD457, DD458, DD477, and DD478 detectors the LED
must be enabled by applying a "CV" signal to terminal 10.
Select the required function of the LED at jumper J1.
DUAL = Detector Alarm. The LED lights when the detector
is in alarm. Relay follows LED.
MICROWAVE = Microwave Alarm. The LED lights when
the microwave channel is in alarm. Relay is always in
alarm.
PIR = PIR alarm. The LED lights when the signal in the
PIR channel exceeds the alarm level. Relay is always in
alarm.
Use "MICROWAVE" and "PIR" when required to locate the
coverage patterns of the individual technologies.
Range adjustment
Program the range via jumper J4.
DD450 series
12 m = maximum range up to 12 m
7 m = medium range up to 7 m
