3. OPERATING THE GUARD UNIT
Generally, the MDS CITY/DIRECT Guard Unit offers 3 different operating modes:
Day Mode, Mixed Mode and Night Mode.
Both in Day and Mixed modes, it is possible to call all the telephones and/or
panels from the guard unit. In Night mode it behaves as a panel.
Regarding the reception of calls, the differences between different modes are:
* In NIGHT mode the Guard Unit does not receive any call but it can make
them. In door entry phone installations it works as a General Entrance
panel.
In this mode, the display shows the usual instructions 'Dial Flat Number
and press
* In DAY mode every call from panels are captured by the guard unit.
From telephones and/or intercom panels it is possible to call the guard.
A 'D' character is shown on the top-left corner of the display.
* In MIXED mode the calls from panels to telephones are not captured by
the guard unit, but the guard unit can be called from telephones normally
(not from panels). An 'X' character is shown in the bottom-left corner of the
display.
In order to select the operating mode:
1. Press '0'.
2. Enter the code for changing mode 'A33333'.
3. Select the mode to be used ( ).
4. Validate with 'B'.
When the Guard Unit is either in mixed or day mode, the last 20 non-answered
calls made from outdoor panel and the last 20 non-answered calls from
telephones will be stored in the so called Call Stacks.
Subsequently, the calls will be attended by selecting the corresponding stack
with the "A" key and the call to be answered with the "B" key.
Once the call has been selected by means of " ", it can be attended as explained
in the following steps.
