Maintenance
10. Maintenance
Before maintenance work is carried out, disconnect the machine
from the supply lines and make sure that it cannot be switched
on again accidentally.
The Health and Safety at Work (UVV) regulations applicable
must be observed for maintenance work.
Basically, the tire changer requires no particular maintenance.
The reduction unit is for-life lubricated and so does not require
maintenance.
Maintenance work which must be carried out at regular
intervals to ensure proper and fault-free operation is listed
below:
•
Clean the machine daily. Remove dirt from the clamping
jaw guides and lubricate the guides.
•
Check the oil level in lubricator every 2 or 3 days. The oil
level in the lubricator (Fig. 27) must never drop below
the suction pipe.
Only oil with a viscosity of 2.5 °- 7° (16 - 55 cST) at 50°C
must be used for topping up (for oils allowed see label
on machine). After topping up, always adjust the lubricator
as follows.
•
Check oil dosage: After operating the pedals (6 and 8,
Fig. 27) 2 - 3 times, one drop of oil should fall into the
sight glass. If necessary adjust using the dosing screw
(1, Fig. 27).
•
Regularly drain the condensation from the filter collector
(3, Fig. 27). To do so, turn the locking ring (4, Fig. 27)
anti-clockwise.
•
Once a month, disconnect the machine from the
compressed air network (2, Fig. 27) and clean the filter
condensation collector (3, Fig. 27).
•
At least once a year clean the worst of the dirt from the
bearings, guides and the like and keep them running
smoothly.
•
At least once a year lubricate with a commercial lubricant.
•
Whenever necessary, clean the lubricator level tube only
with water, petroleum or spirit (not petrol for use in cars!).
10.1 Troubleshooting
Before any repair work is carried out, disconnect the
machine from the supply lines and make sure that it cannot
be switched on again accidentally.
During repair work, the Health and Safety at Work (UVV)
regulations applicable must be observed.
If faults occur which cannot be eliminated by the operator,
call the after-sales Snap-on service.
