9. Megging
If an installation incorporating a UPE pump is to be
megged, the pump should be electrically separated
from the installation.
Megging of UPE pumps can be carried out as de-
scribed below:
Megging of UPE 25-40, 25-40 A, 25-60, 25-60 A, 32-40 and 32-60
1.
Switch off the electricity supply.
2.
Remove the terminal box cover.
3.
Remove the wires from terminals L and N, and the earth
wire (see A).
4.
Remove the screw for electronics frame connection (see B).
5.
Short-circuit terminals L and N using a short wire (see C).
6.
Test between terminals L/N and earth (see D). Maximum
test voltage: 1500 VAC/DC.
Note: Never test between supply terminals (L and N).
Maximum permissible leakage current: < 5 mA.
7.
Remove the short wire between terminals L and N (see C).
8.
Fit the screw for electronics frame connection (see B).
9.
Fit the supply wires to terminals L and N, and the earth wire
(see A).
10. Fit the terminal box cover.
11. Switch on the electricity supply.
Megging of UPE 25-80, 32-80, 40-80 and 50-80
1.
Switch off the electricity supply.
2.
Remove the mains plug.
3.
Remove the wires from terminals L and N, and the earth
wire (see page 294).
4.
Short-circuit terminals L and N on the mains plug using a
short wire (see C).
5.
Remove the terminal box cover.
6.
Remove screw for electronics frame connection and lift
frame connection to ensure a safe vertical clearance
(minimum 2 mm) (see B).
7.
Fit the short-circuited mains plug.
8.
Test between terminals L/N and earth (see D).
Maximum test voltage: 1500 VAC/DC.
Note: Never test between supply terminals (L and N).
Maximum permissible leakage current: < 5 mA.
9.
Fit the screw for electronics frame connection (see B).
10. Remove the short-circuited mains plug.
11. Fit the terminal box cover.
12. Remove the short wire between terminals L and N (see C).
13. Fit the wire to terminals L and N, and the earth wire
(see page 294).
14. Fit the mains plug (see page 294).
15. Switch on the electricity supply.
