1. General warning

1.  B eforeusingalanyard,andtoensureitssafe,efficient

use, it is essential that the user be properly understood
theinformationgiveninthemanualsuppliedbyTractel
SAS. This manual should be available to users at all
times.Additionalcopiescanbesuppliedonrequest.
2. Before use, it is essential that users are trained in the
use of this safety device. Check the condition of the
componentsthatareattached.Thelanyardcanonlybe
usedbyasinglepersonwhoistrainedandcompetent,
orwhoisundertheresponsibilityofsuchaperson.
3.  T helanyardcanonlybeusedbyasinglepersonwhois
trainedandcompetent,orwhoisundertheresponsibility
ofsuchaperson.
4.  I f a lanyard is not in apparent good condition, it must
be verified by Tractel SAS or by an authorised and
competent technician who must authorise the re-use
ofthesysteminwriting.Avisualinspectionbeforeeach
useisrecommended.
5.  A nymodificationorattachmentmadetotheequipment
cannot be done without prior written approval from
Tractel SAS. The equipment must be transported and
storedinitsoriginalpackaging.
6.  A ny lanyard that has not been subject to periodical
inspection within the last 12 months, cannot be used.
They can only be used again after a new periodical
inspection carried out by an approved and competent
technician who can offer written permission for use.
Failingthisinspectionandapproval,thelanyardwillbe
dismantled and destroyed. If it has arrested a fall, it must
be dismantled and destroyed.
7.  T hemaximumworkingloadis150kgforlanyards.
8.  I ftheweightoftheuserincreasedbytheweightoftheir
equipment and tools is between 100 kg and 150 kg,
it is imperative to ensure that the total weight (user +
equipment+tools)doesnotexceedthemaximumload
ofeachofthecomponentsofthefallarrestsystem.
9.  T his device is suitable for use on an open air site and
for a temperature range of -30°C to +60°C.Avoid any
contactwithsharpedges,roughsurfacesandchemical
substances.
10. I f you must assign the equipment to an employee or
similarperson,pleasecomplywiththerelevantlabour
regulations.
11.  T heoperatormustbeintopphysicalandpsychological
form when using this equipment. If in doubt, consult
a doctor or an occupational physician. Prohibited for
pregnant women.
12.  T he equipment should not be used beyond its limits
or in any other situation than that provided for cf
"4.FunctionsandDescription".
13.  W erecommendthatyoupersonallyassignthelanyard
to each operator, especially if they are salaried
employees.

14.  B eforeusingaNFEN363fallarresterdevice,theuser
must ensure that each of the components is in good
workingorder:securitysystem,lockingsystem.When
puttingontheequipment,noneofthesafetyfunctions
should be downgraded.
15.  I nafallarrestsystem,itisessentialtocheckthefree
spaceundertheoperatorattheworkplacebeforeeach
use, so that in the event of a fall there is no risk of
collision with the ground or any obstacle in the path
of the fall.
16.  I t is essential to maintain and store the equipment
in accordance with the instructions in the manual,
failuretocomplywiththesectiononmaintenanceand
storagecanhaveanegativeimpactonthelifeofthe
equipment.
17.  A n anti-fall harness is the only body-gripping device
that is permitted for use in a fall arrester system.
18. It is essential for the safety of the operator that the
device or anchoring point is correctly positioned and
thatworkiscarriedoutinamannerthatwillminimize
heightandtheriskoffalls.
19.  F or the safety of the user, if the equipment is sold
outside the first country of destination, the dealer
should supply: a user manual, instructions for
maintenance, for periodical inspections and repairs
in the language of the country where the product is
to be used.

2. Definitions and pictograms

2.1 Definitions
"User":Personordepartmentinchargeofsafeuseofthe
productdescribedinthismanual.
"Technician":Qualifiedpersoninchargeofmaintenance
operations described and allowed to the user by the
manual; a technician is understood as a person which is
skilledandfamiliarwiththeproduct.
"Operator": Someone working and using the product as
intended.
"PPE": Personal protective equipment against falls from
height.
"Connector": Component for connection between
components of a fall arrest system. The equipment is
compliantwithstandardEN362.
"Fall arrest harness": A body harness for fall arrest.
It consists of straps and buckles. It includes fall arrest
attachmentpointsmarkedAiftheycanbeusedalone,or
markedwithanA/2iftheyaretobeusedincombination
with another point A/2. The equipment is compliant with
standard EN 361.
" Lanyard": Element or flexible linking component of a
personal protection fall arrest system with at least both
endsbeingmanufactured.
