6.10 Exhaust gas extraction system
Varjet boilers have been developed according to the latest technological knowledge. The perfect balance
between the boiler and the chimney allows optimum use of fuels to be obtained and, as a result, economic
operation.
The chimney must be constructed in accordance with the current regulations.
6.10.1
The cross sections must be calculated for pressurised combustion chamber boilers.
To define the dimensions, the particularly determining items are the fuel type, the appliance power, the
temperature and the quantity of gas burned and the chimney construction and height (values given in the
technical characteristics table, paragraph 5).
6.10.2
The flues must be made in a material resistant to the condensate that can form when the boiler is operating.
These materials must also be capable of supporting temperatures up to 120°C.
Varjet boilers are high performance boilers with very low exhaust temperatures; consequently to retain a
favourable draught the ducts must run upwards from the boiler outlet.
Horizontal duct runs must be avoided so as not to cause condensate retention. To do this use a minimum slope
of 3 % towards the boiler in the horizontal parts.
It is necessary to comply with the rules of the art, DTU 65.4 chimney and DTU 24.1 exhaust system, and national
and prefectoral regulations.
The connection duct must be removable. The flue collar shall have a gas tight connection to the duct. Provide
suitable collars or other equipment to avoid the transmission of vibrations. Connections over 1m in length must
be insulated. Flanges and cleaning openings must always be accessible, hence these parts must be free of
insulation. The measurement connections must come out of the insulation.
