5.6 Removing the string unit
For later use as a brush cutter you must remove
the string unit. Turn the string unit (Item 37) until
you can see the recess of the fl ange
(Fig. 11 / Item 39) at the housing recess of the
motor unit (Item 38). Insert the hex key (Item 30)
into the recesses and turn the string unit (Item 37)
clockwise (a) off the gear axle.
5.7 Fitting the string unit
For later use as a string trimmer you must refi t the
string unit. Turn the string unit (Item 37) counter-
clockwise (b) onto the gear axle as far as the
housing recess until you can see the recess of
the fl ange (Fig. 11 / Item 39). Insert the hex key
(Item 30) into the recesses and turn the string unit
(Item 37) counter-clockwise. Remove the hex key.
Check whether the string unit can rotate freely. If
this is not the case, have the mechanism checked
by an expert.
5.8 Guard hood for use with the cutting blade
(Fig. 9-10)
Caution! The string blade guard hood (Item 27)
must be removed when you want to work with the
cutting blade. Take care not to cut yourself on the
string blade (Item 41).
Slacken the two retaining screws (Item 40) on
the string blade guard hood (Item 27). Starting
at the side, carefully press in the lugs (Item 42)
and gradually pull off the string blade guard hood
(Item 27).
5.9 Guard hood for use with string
(Fig. 9-10)
Caution! The string blade guard hood (Item 27)
must be fi tted when you want to work with the
string. Take care not to cut yourself on the string
blade.
Starting at the side, press the lugs (Item 42) in
again. Fasten them with the two retaining screws
(Item 40).
5.10 Fitting / removing the cutting blade
Remove the string unit as described in section
5.6.
5.11 Fitting the cutting blade (11–16)
Important! If the fl ange (Item 43) between the
cutting blade and the gear housing (see the
detailed drawing 17 / Item 43) slips off the gear
axle (Item 44) while dismantling the string unit,
push it back onto the gear axle (Item 44). The
open fl ange side must face the gear housing.
1. Place the cutting blade (Item 29) onto the

fl ange (Item 43) in central position.
2. Fit the pressure plate (Item 31) with the
higher edge facing the cutting blade.
(See also the detailed drawing 17.)
3. Put on the pressure plate cover (Item 32)
(see also the detailed drawing 17).
4. Screw on the hex nut M10 (Item 33) with
its left-hand thread (see also the detailed
drawing 17). Warning! For safety reasons,
self-locking nuts are allowed to be used only
once without exception.
5. Insert the hex key (Item 30) into the recess
of the gear housing and fl ange. Securely
tighten the hex nut using the key for the string
trimmer / brush cutter (Item 28).
6. Check that the cutting blade rotates freely
after you remove the assembly tools. If this is
not the case, have the mechanism checked
by an expert.
7. Remove the blade guard covers (Item 45).
Warning! Take care not to injure yourself on
the cutting blade.
5.12 Removing the cutting blade
Remove the cutting blade in reverse order to that
described in section 5.6.
5.13 Fitting the string trimmer / brush cutter
module on the motor unit (Fig. 18)
Push the connecting tube (Item 9) of the fully
pre-assembled string trimmer / brush cutter
module and the extension tube (Item 13) of the
pre-assembled motor unit into one another and
screw them together with the union nut (Item 8).
To dismantle, proceed in reverse order.
5.14 Adjusting the cutting height (Fig. 19)
To establish the optimum length of the harness,
put on the harness (see point 6.1) and make a
few swinging movements without starting the
motor.
Assembly / adjustments of the telescoping
pole chain saw
Danger! Do not fi t the battery until the
telescoping pole chain saw has been fully
assembled and the chain tension has been
set. To protect yourself against injury, always
wear protective gloves when working on the
telescoping pole chain saw. Use the cutter rail
guard (Fig. 2 / Item 23).
