5.15 Converting the connecting tube (Fig.
20-22)
To be able to use a diff erent module (e.g. the
telescoping pole chain saw) you must convert the
connecting tube (Fig. 2 / Item 9).
1. Push the release (Item 10) forward and screw
off the union nut (Item 8). Pull the connecting
tube (Item 9) off the module.
2. Put the connecting tube (Item 9) onto the
module (e.g. the telescoping pole chain saw,
Item 15).
3. Screw the union nut (Item 8) on the module
(e.g. the telescoping pole chain saw, Item 15)
until it is tight.
5.16 Fitting the cutter rail and saw chain (Fig.
23-25)
1. Use the key for the telescoping pole chain
saw (Item 25) to remove the fastening screw
for the chain wheel cover (Item 46).
2. Remove the chain wheel cover.
3. Lay the saw chain (Item 21) in the groove
which runs around the cutter rail (Item 22).
4. Insert the cutter rail (Item 22) and the
saw chain (Item 21) into the mount of the
telescoping pole chain saw. At the same time
guide the saw chain around the chain wheel
(Item 47) and hook the cutter rail into the
chain tensioning bolt (Item 48).
5. Fit the chain wheel cover and tighten the
fastening screw hand-tight.
Note: Do not fully tighten the fastening screw until
after you have adjusted the chain tension (see
section 5.17).
5.17 Tensioning the saw chain (Fig. 26-27)
1. Slacken the fastening screw for the chain
wheel cover slightly (use the key for the
telescoping pole chain saw).
2. Adjust the tension of the saw chain by using
the key for the telescoping pole chain saw
(Item 25) to turn the chain tensioning screw
(Item 49). Turning the screw clockwise
increases the chain tension, turning it
counter-clockwise decreases the chain
tension. The saw chain is correctly tensioned
if it can be lifted approx.
middle of the cutter rail.
3. Tighten the fastening screw for the chain
wheel cover (use the key for the telescoping
pole chain saw).
Danger! All the chain links must lie properly in
the guide groove of the bar.

Notes on tensioning the chain:
The chain must be properly tensioned to ensure
safe operation. When the saw chain can be raised
by around 2 mm in the middle of the cutter rail,
you know that the chain tension is ideal
(Fig. 27). During cutting, the temperature of the
saw chain rises and its length changes. It is
important therefore to check the chain tension
at least every 10 minutes and to adjust it again
as required. This applies in particular to new saw
chains. When you have fi nished working, slacken
the chain again as it will shorten when it cools
down. This will help to prevent damage to the
chain.
5.18 Saw chain lubrication
Important! (Fig. 28) Never operate the chain if
it is not lubricated with saw chain oil! Use of the
telescoping pole chain saw without saw chain oil
or with the oil level below the "min" mark will result
in damage to the cordless telescoping pole chain
saw.
Important! Be aware of the temperature
conditions:
Diff erent lubricants with completely diff erent
viscosities are required at diff erent ambient
temperatures. At lower temperatures you will need
low viscosity oils in order to achieve a suffi cient
lubricating fi lm. However, if the same low viscosity
oil is used during the summer it will become even
thinner due to the ambient temperatures alone,
and as a result the lubricating fi lm could break
down, causing the chain to overheat and become
damaged. In addition, the chain oil would burn
and produce unnecessary pollutants.

the tank, as this could cause the oil nozzle to
