Exhaust Rail System 920/400
NOTE! If the System is designed for use only with stationary vehicles, the
vehicle must not be moved when the hose nozzle has been connected to
the vehicle exhaust pipe. For the best operation of suction trolleys designed
for vehicle in motion, it is recommended not to drive the vehicle more than
1.5–2.0 m parallel to the rail, see Figure 1.
4.3

Ratchet mechanism (Figure 2)

Exhaust Rail System 920/400 with balancer is delivered with a ratchet
mechanism which retains the hose in the required outdrawn position. The
ratchet will disengage if the hose is drawn out a little further. The hose then
returns automatically but is to be held by hand until it has moved to its rest
position.
4.4

Damper function (Figure 2)

Exhaust Rail System 920/400 can be fitted with a mechanical damper which
automatically opens when the hose is drawn out.
The damper closes when the hose has returned to its rest position.
1.
Closed position
2.
Open position.
4.5

Safety coupling (Figure 3)

The safety coupling separates the hose if manual/automatic disconnection
fails, or if the nozzle catches on to part of the vehicle. Systems with a safety
coupling are equipped with a centrifugal brake which means that the hose
returns to rest position in a steady and slow manner.
NOTE! Avoid fast acceleration when the nozzle is connected to the exhaust
pipe of the vehicle.
Disconnection force
4"-hose: 450 N, 6"-hose: 650 N
4.6

Nozzle storage (Optional) (Figure 4)

If the balancer is not used, the optional Nozzle Storage can be used to store
the nozzle and open/close the mechanical damper. Hanging the nozzle on the
ring closes the mechanical damper; removing the nozzle opens the damper.
To use Nozzle Storage:
1.
Tie one end of the chord to the spring. See figure 4(A).
2.
Connect the spring to the damper.
3.
Tie the other end of the chord to the ring.
4.7

Adjusting the lifting power of the balancer (Figure 5)

The balancer has a factory set lifting power. It is possible to adjust the lifting
power according to the following description.
4.7.1

Increasing the lifting power

1.
Loosen the stop ball (C).
