MAINTENANCE.

WARNINGS
ANY INTERNAL INSPECTIONS OR REPAIRS MUST
BE CARRIED OUT BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL.
BEFORE BEGINNING MAINTENANCE OPERA-
TIONS, UNPLUG THE MACHINE FROM THE MAINS
AND WAIT FOR THE INTERNAL CAPACITORS TO
DISCHARGE (30 SECONDS).
3.1

Periodic inspection, cleaning.

Periodically make sure that the equipment and all connec-
tions are in proper condition to ensure operator safety.
Periodically open the power board (34) protection carter
and check inside the ventilation tunnel.
Remove any dirt or dust to ensure smooth air flow and
thus adequate cooling of the internal parts of the power
source.
Remove any dirt or metal dust from the wire feed liner and
gear-motor unit, making sure that they are not worn to the
point of needing replacement.
Check the condition of the output terminals, output
and power supply cables of the power source; replace if
damaged.
Check the condition of the internal power connections and
connectors on the electronic boards; if you find "loose"
connections, tighten or replace the connectors.
3.2
Troubleshooting.
NOTE
Items in boldface describe problems that may occur on
the machine (symptoms).
□ Operations preceded by this symbol refer to situations
the operator must determine (causes).
■ ♦ Operations preceded by these symbols refer to
actions the operator must perform in order to solve the
problems (solutions).

3.2.1
The power source does not start, control
panel off.
MAINS SUITABILITY TEST.
□ No voltage for mains protection.
NO
Correct?
♦ Eliminate any short-circuits or isolation leaks
towards earth on the connections between
power cord, switch (30) and TP15 and TP4
terminals on power board (34).
♦ Make sure the B1 rectifier bridge on power
board (34) is not in short circuit.
♦ Mains not suitable to power the power source
(e.g.: insufficient installed power).
MAINS CONNECTION TEST.
□ Terminals TP15 and TP4 on power board (34) = 230
Vac, with switch (30) closed.
WARNING
The circuits in this section of the power board (34) are
directly connected to the mains potential and therefore
dangerous. To measure use insulated tools and take the
necessary precautions.
POWER SUPPLY TEST (Fig. 2.3.1, 2.3.2).
□ Power board (34), R32 SHUNT(-) terminal (in proximity
of inductor L3) and dissipater DISS2(+), voltage = +320
Vdc approximately, after switch (30) closing; +395 Vdc,
after start-up phase, 5 s approximately (Vdc across
DC-capacitors).
YES
Correct?
♦ If the voltage is not present, turn off the power
source and check the R32 SHUNT(-) terminal
and DISS2(+) dissipater are not in short
circuit. If the case look for the short circuit
cause between the following components:
boost converter (U5, U7), flyback circuit (U3,
D3, D4, etc.), DC-capacitors, inverter igbt
and diodes ((U8 ÷ U13, D13, D14 etc.).
♦ If the voltage remains at values much low-
er than 320 Vdc, check the precharge circuit
(PTC1, relay RL1, etc.).
♦ If the voltage remains at +320 Vdc, check
the boost converter circuits (U5, U7, Q5, Q6,
D11, D12, etc.) and the voltages on TP11 and
TP12 of power board (34), as indicated in
YES
NO
