Cooling Unit GRV14

Available as an option on Item No 564.
The GRV14 cooling unit is powered using two phases of the mains voltage, taken from power board (56), via the
primary winding of service transformer (54) which operates as an autotransformer (400/220 VAC).
Power board (56) acts as the connection interface between unit components and the true power source control circuit,
panel board (47), to which it is connected (via CAN line with INV board).
More specifically, the "cooling unit enable" signal of the panel board (47) commands relay RL1 of the power board (56),
which directly powers the cooling liquid pump (26) and the fans (2).
Pressure switch (23), inserted in the hydraulic circuit on the delivery of pump (26), sends an isolated signal proportional
to fluid pressure directly to panel board (47), via power board (56).
When the power source is turned on, panel board (47) checks that the cooling unit is connected using a signal provided
by the jumper between terminals 1 and 2 of the connector (9) on the cooling unit. (Fig. 3.3.13).
With connector (9) disconnected, or the jumper open, the cooling unit is disabled and the cooling unit cannot be
selected from the control panel; if the cooling unit is already enabled, the power source locks and the corresponding
error code is displayed.
When the unit is turned on, if continuous or automatic operation is set (see the Instruction Manual), pump (26) and fans
(2) will run for 30 seconds to fill the torch tubes and check the hydraulic circuit commissioning pressure; after which,
if no welding command is issued by the operator, they will stop and wait for a new start command.
If pressure switch (23) does not detect the correct pressure within 30 seconds of being switched on, panel board (47)
will shut down the unit, with an alarm indication on the control panel.
In automatic operating mode, the pump and fans start at the beginning of the welding process and stop 3 minutes
after the end of the welding process.
In continuous operation, the pump and fans are kept running at all times. Only a pressure drop can stop them and the
EN
power source from running.
Because the factory set-up of the cooling unit is "OFF", this setting must be changed the first time the welding system
is used (see Instruction Manual).

MAINTENANCE

ANY INTERNAL INSPECTION OR REPAIR MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL.
BEFORE BEGINNING MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS, UNPLUG THE EQUIPMENT FROM THE MAINS AND
31

Periodic inspection, cleaning

Periodically check that the equipment and all the connections are in proper working order and that operator safety is
therefore guaranteed.
Periodically open the protective casing on power board (56) and check inside the ventilation tunnel. Remove any dirt
or dust to ensure smooth air flow, and thus adequate cooling of the internal parts of the power source.
Panel board (47) records the actual operating hours of fans (26), which correspond to actual welding hours. Periodically
it is necessary to remove and clean or replace air filter unit (76) secured to finned panel (78) which is in turn secured
to rear panel (16) of the machine.
Use the touch screen display on panel board (47) to check how many hours are left until air filter unit (76) is cleaned or
replaced, see photos 3.1.a-3.1.b:
Remove any dirt or metal dust from the wire guide sheath and gear motor unit, checking that they are not so worn that
they require replacement.
Check the condition of the output terminals, output and power supply cables of the power source; replace if damaged.
Check the condition of the internal power connections and connectors on the electronic boards; if you find "loose"
connections, tighten or replace the connectors.
30
WAIT FOR THE INTERNAL CAPACITORS TO DISCHARGE (1 MINUTE).
