2. Functional Description
2.1 General Points
The SATAjet 100 B F RP/HVLP or SATAjet 100 B P paint spray gun is designed for spraying paints
and laquers as well as other media (Nozzle size depends on spray viscosity). Materials that are abra-
sive, acidic or contain benzine must not be used. The compressed air supply required for spraying is
fed to the air connection screwed into the gun grip. Squeezing the trigger as far as the first pressure
point opens the air valve (pre-air control). When the trigger is squeezed further, the paint needle is
pulled out of the paint nozzle. The spraying medium then flows unpressurized out of the paint nozzle
due to gravity and is simultaneously atomized by the compressed air that flows the air nozzle.
The cup lid is equipped with a drip stop that prevents the material from escaping from the vent hole.
2.2 Digital Pressure Measurement (add-on solution)
From 0.2 bar (3 psi) on, the digital pressure measuring device integrated in the „SATA adam" indicates
the gun inlet pressure with an indication precision of ± 0.05 bar (1 psi). If unpressurized, the pressure
measurement is put into „sleep" mode to prolong battery life time. The pressure measuring device
is hermetically sealed against external influence (max. temperature 60° C). The maximum indication
value is 99 psi or 9.9 bars.
2.3 ATEX, FM Global (Explosion hazard safety)
The digital pressure measurement device „adam" has been submitted to a prototype test and was
developed, constructed and manufactured in accordance with the EC Directive 94/9 EG.
It was categorized according to
and may be used in the explosion hazard zones 0, 1 and 2 with a temperature of up to 60° C. In
case of damage to the pressure measuring device, indication, glass cover etc. put gun out of order
immediately. The pressure measurement device may exclusively be repaired in the SATA company.
Any intrusion into the pressure measuring chamber by removing the front plate is dangerous,
will lead to the expiry of the explosion hazard safety certificate as well as the warranty, and
destroys the pressure measurement device.
