With the motor running:
Do not place your hands and feet close to
any rotating parts.
Keep flammable objects from the exhaust
and the cylinder area.
Allow the exhaust, cylinder and cooling vanes
to cool down before contact.
Switching off the engine
Observe the operating instructions for the
lawnmower.

6 REPAIR

WARNING! Risk of injury during repair
work. Improper repairs can lead to serious inju-
ries and damage to the appliance.
Repair work may only be carried out by ser-
vice centres of the manufacturer or by autho-
rised specialist workshops.
Only original spare parts from AL-KO are al-
lowed.

7 MAINTENANCE AND CARE

WARNING! Risk of injury. Inadvertent
switching on of the engine can result in serious
injuries.
Before setting, maintenance and repair work,
always switch off the engine and secure
against being switched on again.
Regular maintenance is essential for safety
and maintaining performance.
Observe the maintenance schedule.
For use under more demanding conditions,
more frequent maintenance is required.
1. Before all maintenance and cleaning work:
Remove spark plug connector (01/5) from the
spark plug.
2. Perform the maintenance and cleaning work
described in this section according to the
maintenance schedule.
3. After maintenance and cleaning work: Reat-
tach the spark plug connector(01/5) to the
spark plug.

Angling the engine (07)

1. Angle the engine so that the carburettor/air
filter (07/1) points upwards.

Cleaning the air filter (05)

Clean the air filter regularly.
Replace the air filter if damaged.

1. Remove the air filter cover (05/1) by pressing
the locking tabs (05/2) and removing the air
filter cover.
2. Remove the filter (05/3) and knock it out
against a hard surface until the dirt has been
removed. Do not brush out!
3. Reinstall the filter.
4. Put the air filter cover back on and close.

Changing the oil (01, 06)

Check the oil level regularly. Check the oil level
every 5 operating hours or every day before start-
ing the engine.
WARNING! Danger of explosion and fire.
Escaping fuel creates an explosive petrol/air mix-
ture. Deflagration, explosion and fire can lead to
serious and even fatal injuries if fuel is not han-
dled properly.
Empty the fuel tank before draining the oil.
NOTE Contact our customer service if you
cannot carry out work yourself.
NOTE The oil capacity for the engine is
max. 0.5 l.
NOTE
Drain off the old oil when the engine is warm.
Warm oil runs out quickly and fully.
Dispose of used oil in an eco-friendly man-
ner!
1. To empty the fuel tank: Allow the engine to
run until it stops itself.
Or drain the fuel.
2. Remove the spark plug connector (01/5).
3. Remove the oil dipstick (06/2).
4. Place a collecting container (06/3) for the old
oil beneath.
5. Tilt the engine over the collecting container
so that all of the oil can drain out of the oil fill-
er opening (06/4).
6. Allow the oil to run out completely into a con-
tainer.
7. Pour in new oil (SAE 10W-30, fill volume: 0.5
l) (see chapter 4.2.2 "Filling with engine oil
(04)", page 18).
8. Check that the level has reached the MAX
(03/4) mark.
9. Insert and lock the oil dipstick.
10. Remove any spilled oil.
