5. Turn both chain adjusters (5) so the rear wheel
can be moved all the way forward for maximum
drive chain slack.
6. Move the rear wheel forward. Derail the drive
chain from the driven sprocket.
7. Remove the rear axle nut, chain adjusters,
washer, side collar, rear axle shaft and rear wheel
from the swingarm.

Installation
Reverse the removal procedure.
1. Make sure that the lug (7) on the swingarm is
located in the slot (8) in the brake panel.
2. Adjust the drive chain (page 57).
3. Tighten the rear axle nut to the specified torque.
Rear axle nut torque:
108 N.m (11.0 kgf.m, 80 lbf.ft)
4. Adjust the rear brake pedal free play (page 19).
5. Apply the rear brake several times and check for
free wheel rotation after the brake is released.
Recheck the wheel if the brake drags or if the
wheel does not rotate freely.
If a torque wrench was not used for installation,
see your Honda dealer as soon as possible to verify
proper assembly. Improper assembly may lead to loss
of braking capacity.
