6 Function
The lubrication unit LU 2/P-24V-3L is a lubrication system (central lubrication) for
several belt sections/conveyor unit of the transfer system TS 2plus. The volume of the
delivered oil quantity is determined by the type of dosing valve (33V dosing valve).
The design of the lubrication system can be supported with a calculation tool in
the engineering software MTpro
lubrication LU 2/P).
The lubrication unit LU 2/P-24V-3L is equipped with an integrated electronic control
system that monitors the function, lubrication pressure and fi ll level. It can be
programmed with repetitive lubrication processes.
6.1 How lubrication is done
Bosch Rexroth recommends for the operation of the LU 2/P on BS 2/... belt sections
or SE 2/... Conveyor units the operation mode Cycle.
The lubrication phase is started by a pulse at the counter input (see chapter 8.5.9).
Monitoring and termination of the lubrication phase is carried out via a pressure
switch integrated in the lubrication unit (Pressure Switch).
For further information on the operating modes and the parameterization of the
LU 2/P, please refer to the manufacturer's documentation (see Table 1).
Application example:
Lubrication process in the operating mode Cycle and Parameter LUBE Type = 33V/PS
(monitoring via pressure switch):
• In order to achieve good lubrication of the chain, the belt section or conveyor units
should be in operation (the chain is in motion).
• After applying the operating voltage, the LU 2/P starts in the standby phase
(parameter START IN set to Resume and parameter Prelube set to 0) and waits for
a start impulse for the lubrication phase at the counter input.
• If the LU 2/P detects an impulse at the counter input, the standby phase is
terminated and the lubrication phase starts.
• The pump of the LU 2/P is started and the lubrication unit delivers lubricant to the
dosing valves until the Pressure Switch responds and also for the time set in the
DELAY Time parameter.
• The trigger pressure of the pressure switch is adjustable (10 ... 20 bar, preset to
18 bar).
• If the trigger pressure of the pressure switch has been reached and maintained for
the DELAY Time, it can be assumed that the lubricant quantity corresponding to the
dosing valves has been dispensed.
• The pump is then switched off and the standby phase starts again.
• The lubricant quantity discharged by the dosing valves is fed via the hose lines to
the two lubricating pins in the drive heads.
• The lubricant drips onto the lubrication points (joints) of the chain running below
via the drip nozzles of the lubricating pins.
• The lubricant is distributed onto the neighboring sections of the chain during
operation.
