Maintenance instructions for running in friction clutches
To run in Walterscheid friction clutches, perform the steps from page 509 to 512.

Error description
Yoke leg bent
PTO bent
PTO drive shaft connections
damaged
Bearing damage on the
connecting shafts in the driven
machine or on the tractor
PTO drive shaft comes apart
Telescopic sections are

Damage to the bearings
Visible wear on the profile tubes

Compression of the PTO drive
shaft due to an incorrect length
(too long)
PTO drive shaft too short or
there is insufficient profile tube

Remedy
Replace the damaged
components*.
Shorten the PTO drive shaft to
the correct measurement** (see
Chapter 3.3).
Replace the damaged
components* and get in contact
with Walterscheid if necessary.
Replace the damaged
components*. Observe the
lubrication and maintenance
instructions.
Check the drive power and, if
necessary, use the next biggest
size of PTO drive shaft (see
Chapter 2.3).
If there is damage on the guard
cone, replace the guard cone*.
Check the PTO drive shaft
arrangement.
Switch off the PTO in the case
of large joint angles.
If the joint wear is too great,
replace the joint or the entire
PTO drive shaft*.
Check the hitch kinematics,
strive for a roughly equal and
small joint angle (see Chapter
2.3).
