CRATER FILLER: this option permits control of three wire speeds
with the torch button in the MIG/MAG welding process.
This system permits optimum control of the temperature varia-
tions that normally occur in a piece during the various welding
phases. The system is therefore particularly suitable for welding
aluminium.
In addition, the availability of several wire speeds permits grea-
ter precision in the choice of powers to be used in the various
welding phases, with reduced specific thermal transfer. In ferrous
materials, this system permits elimination of the imperfections
that characterise the last part of the bead with consequent
improvement in the physical characteristics of the weld.
To set the "Crater Filler" mode, press F2 until the symbol for this
welding mode appears. 2 new items will appear on the display:
"Initial increment" and "Crater Filler".
When the torch button is pressed, the arc is sparked at the wire
speed set as a percentage in the "initial increment" parameter.
The piece is initially cold and greater power is required for effec-
tive melting of the ends. When the torch button is released, the
wire speed goes to the pre-set value using the double pulsed
procedure (RC14); extra pulsing is activated in this phase. In the
final part of the piece, the temperature is high due to the ther-
mal effect of the welding and therefore less power is required.
When the button is pressed, the wire speed goes to the pre-set
crater filler value; the gas outflow will run for the entire set post-
gas time.
Function key in TIG welding. Allows you to choose bet-
ween lift starting or with H.F. The latter enables, through
a very brief
high tension impulse, the arc to be struck
remotely, preventing the electrode from coming into con-
tact with the piece to be welded. Lift starting involves an
initial short-circuit situation of low current between the electro-
de and the piece; at the moment when the electrode lifts, the
arc starts, and the current increases until it reaches the value set.
In MIG welding it permits display and modification of the main
parameters only or also the secondary welding parameters.
Function key active for all welding processes; selects the
control of the principal welding parameters from the key-
board (INT) or from the remote control ( EXT).
Key permitting selection of wire speed, current and thick-
ness setting mode in MIG welding.

ROBOT INTERFACE CONTROL:
If the RC10/RC14 is connected to an FP143 (Robot interface), via
key F4 it is possible to select the internal Robot command or
external Robot command option.
To do this, keep the F4 pressed (in the main menu, TIG or MIG
welding) until the robot symbol appears.
In the Robot interface mode, the main parameters can be con-
trolled directly from the robot (current for TIG and wire speed
and voltage for MIG).
It is also possible to make use of the first 8 memories of the RC10
by recalling them via a binary code directly from the Robot.
5.0 DESCRIPTION OF GRAPHICS SYMBOLS
FOR RC10
Indicates that the MIG welding mode is active.
Indicates that the MMA welding mode is a active.
Indicates that the TIG DC welding mode is active.
Indicates that the selection has been made for the control
of the welding parameters through the remote control.
Indicates that selection has been made for the control
of the welding parameters through the keyboard.
Indicates that the timer welding, in TIG and
MIG/MAG, is active.
Indicates that 2-stroke welding, in TIG or MIG/ MAG,
is active.
Indicates that 4-stroke welding, in TIG or MIG/ MAG,
is active.
Indicates that the striking of the arc in TIG welding,
takes place at high frequency.
Indicates that the striking of the arc in TIG DC wel-
ding, takes place in LIFT-ARC mode.
Indicates that the calculation of the welding parameters
in the synchronous mode takes place automatically.
Indicates the activating of the long
mode, in which it is possible to introduce corrections
to the welding parameters around the optimum wor-
king point previously calculated by the synergy.
