5.3 Diameter and centre distance measurements

1. Perform zero-setting or input a preset value for a reference surface
(see Chapters 5.11 and 5.4.2).
2. Use the Enter key to bring up the diameter/centre distance function.
3a. Inner diameter
Position the measuring insert in the hole (1) near the reversal point
and have the measurement force applied until the acoustic signal
sounds. Move the instrument (or the part) to the side to have the
reversal point (2) determined. The value is saved automatically. A
double beep sounds whenever SmartReverse has been activated
(Chapter 9).
4a. Probe a point near the reversal point on the opposite side (3) of the
diameter. Move the instrument (or the part) to the side to have the
reversal point (4) determined. The values for the diameter and the
centre line are shown in the first and second row of the display.
3b. Outer diameter
Position the measuring insert at the lower profile section near the
reversal point (1) have the measurement force applied until the
acoustic signal sounds. Move the instrument (or the part) to the side
to have the reversal point (2) determined. The value is saved automa-
tically. Slowly remove the measuring insert to the side (3).
4b. Probe a point near the reversal point on the opposite side (4) of the
diameter. Move the instrument (or the part) to the side to have the
reversal point (5) determined. Remove the measuring insert to the
side (6). The values for the diameter and the centre distance are
shown in the first and second row of the display.
5. After the measuring insert has been released, the values for the
diameter and the centre distance remain on the display until a new
measurement is performed.
