Legal information - Germany StVZO approved children's
road bikes
Children's road bikes with hub dynamo, lighting, as well as front, side and rear reflectors
meet all requirements of the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) and
may therefore be used in public road traffic. However, the prerequisite here is that your
child has reached the age of 8, otherwise it must use the sidewalk, which is generally
allowed until the age of 10.
Subsequent attachments and modifications to the bicycle (especially to braking
devices) change the riding characteristics and can lead to a hazard. When replacing
components that affect the StVZO, please ensure that the StVZO conformity is not
affected by the replacement.
Children's bicycles that are not StVZO approved
Children's bicycles that are only equipped with front, side and rear reflectors do not
meet the requirements of the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) and
may therefore not be used in public road traffic. If this bicycle is to be used in public
road traffic, certain components must be mounted or retrofitted. If necessary, please
consult your dealer or refer to the regulations of the StVZO.
The first ride
Your child's first contact with public traffic on a StVZO-approved children's road
bike places high demands on your child and on your supervisory responsibilities. We
recommend not overtaxing children. If the sense of balance has not become second
nature through early training with the scooter, running bike or children's bike, we strongly
advise you to observe the following safety instructions.
In any case, first practice riding a bicycle with your child in a suitable protected area
before letting him or her ride a StVZO-approved children's street bike on public roads
on his or her own.
Avoiding dangers
Only when your child has mastered cycling safely should he or she participate in public
traffic with a StVZO-approved children's road bike. In order to behave properly on
public roads, it is necessary for your child to know the most important basic rules of
the road. Do not overtax your child. Other road users, especially cars, unsettle the still
inexperienced new road user.
Riding technique
Explain the operation of the bicycle to your child before the first ride. He or she should first
familiarize himself or herself with the various components of the bicycle. This applies in
particular to the effect of the brakes. Practice braking with the child in a safe area (e.g.
on a play street). Excessive braking with the front brake can cause the front wheel to
lock - and thus lead to a fall. Be careful in wet or gravel conditions! If bicycle paths are
available, they should also be used; adults should set an example here.
Use of the bicycle
The total load allowed for this bicycle (rider incl. bicycle and, if applicable, luggage) is
20'' max. 60 kg; 24'' and 26" max. 100 kg. The permissible load of the luggage carrier
depends on its design (s. luggage carrier-
impression). A suitable luggage carrier can be retrofitted to models that are delivered
without a luggage carrier.
For reasons of riding safety, we recommend that you do not use the luggage carrier
as a load carrier.
The bicycle may only be ridden on paved paths and roads without obstacles. The bike is
not suitable for jumps, tricks and off-road use. The bike is not suitable for mounting child
seats, trailers or trailers. Be aware of possible catch points during use and maintenance.
Unpacking and scope of delivery
Do not use sharp objects to open the packaging and remove protective material. You
could accidentally damage the paintwork or parts of the bike. Keep all packaging
material away from children.
• Remove all parts from the packaging.
• Remove the protective material.

Mounting and putting into operation
The bicycle must be made ready to ride, taking into account the height of the child. The
saddle must be adjusted in such a way that at least the tip of the foot, or better still
the whole ball of the foot, reaches the ground in order to reach the equilibrium position
when standing. The marking of the minimum insertion depth on the seat post in the
seat tube must be observed.
The handlebars as well as the handbrake lever and bell must be easily accessible for
the child when the saddle position is set.
When mounting the pedals, take into account the left-hand or right-hand thread (marked
by R or L near the thread on the pedal axle). The pictures for the assembly instructions
are on the following pages of this manual.
CAUTION: Incorrect final assembly can lead to dangerous situations, accidents and
serious injuries. Therefore, after assembly, carry out an inspection of the vehicle ac-
cording to the safety checklist! If in doubt in case of doubt, contact your specialist dealer.
For the assembly you need the following tools:
• Hex key 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm
• Spanner15 mm
• Screwdriver
• T20 screwdriver
Maintenance and care
For safety reasons, the first inspection of the bicycle should be carried out after a
running-in period of a few hours.
All maintenance work requires specialist knowledge. Please consult your dealer if you
are not sure if you can do it yourself. can carry them out yourself.
Protect the bike from road salt and avoid storing it in damp rooms (e.g. garage) for a
longer period of time. Should you nevertheless store the bike in a damp environment,
please protect the surfaces of unpainted metal parts (screws, nuts, etc.) with a suit-
able surface sealant (e.g. spray wax). Hubs and ball bearings should be checked for
adjustment and lubrication by a specialist from time to time. Do not use a high-pressure
cleaner / steam jet for cleaning.
Lubrication, cleanliness and corrosion protection.
All paint and metal surfaces can be cleaned and protected with commercially available
car care products. Use
only environmentally friendly, never aggressive cleaning agents. Oil the chain regularly
(chain or universal oils) and clean if necessary. The side flanks of the rims (braking
surfaces) must be free of grease!
Lighting
The lighting is based on LED technology, which is characterized by low power con-
sumption and long service life.
To check the lighting system, turn the front wheel with the wheel raised.
Brakes
The bicycle has two rim brakes. The left brake lever operates the brake on the front
wheel, the right brake lever operates the brake on the rear wheel.
Note the reduced braking effect of the front brake in wet conditions. Sudden, strong
braking with the rim brake should be (especially V-brakes have a very high braking
power), as the handling of the vehicle changes suddenly and can lead to a crash. can
suddenly change and lead to a fall. On long downhill stretches, continuous braking
with the coaster brake should be avoided (this causes the coaster brake hub to heat up
considerably). If the handbrake lever can be moved more than half of its. If the handbrake
lever can be pulled towards the handlebar by more than half of its travel, the brake must
be readjusted. The brake surfaces must be clean and free of grease and the brake pads
must be parallel to each other. The brake pads should be positioned at a distance of
1 mm below the upper edge of the rim and mounted at a slight angle to the rim. Worn
brake pads must be replaced immediately!
When replacing, make sure that you use the original pads, or that they at least match
the material of the rim (e.g. by the code: "Alloy / Alu" for alloy rims).
