When working at height, secure the work area and the
area below it from falling chips and the power tool
itself. Falling objects can lead to injuries.
Secure the work piece firmly. A work piece that is
gripped tightly in a clamping device or vice, is more
secure than if held by hand.
Do not rivet or screw any name-plates or signs onto the
power tool. If the insulation is damaged, protection
against an electric shock will be ineffective.
Do not use accessories which are not specifically
designed and recommended by the power tool manu-
facturer. Safe operation is not ensured merely because
an accessory fits your power tool.
Clean the ventilation openings on the power tool at reg-
ular intervals using non-metal tools. The blower of the
motor draws dust into the housing. An excessive accu-
mulation of metallic dust can cause an electrical hazard.
Before putting into operation, check the mains connec-
tion and the mains plug for damage.
Recommendation: The tool should always be supplied
with power via a residual current device (RCD) with a
rated current of 30 mA or less.
Vibration and noise emission values
The vibration and noise emission values given in these
instructions have been measured according to a meas-
urement method standardised in EN 62841 and can be
used to compare power tools with each other. They are
also suitable for a preliminary assessment of vibration
and noise exposure.
The given vibration and noise emission values rep-
resent the main applications of the power tool.
However, if the power tool is used for other applica-
tions, with deviating application tools or insufficient
maintenance, the overall vibration values and the noise
emission values may differ. This can significantly
increase the vibration and noise exposure over the total
working period.
For an accurate estimation of vibration and noise expo-
sure, the durations when the equipment is switched off
or running but not actually in use should also be taken
into account. This may significantly reduce the vibration
and noise exposure over the total working period.
Identify additional safety measures to protect the
operator from the effects of vibration and noise
such as: Maintain the power tool and the accesso-
ries, keep the hands warm, organization of work
patterns.
Operating Instructions.
Guide the power tool toward the work piece only
when switched on.
While cutting, hold the power tool as upright as possi-
ble to the work-piece surface.
Guide the power tool uniformly and with light feed in
the cutting direction. Excessive feed reduces the tool
life of the application tools.
Operate the power tool in continuous operation only
at the highest stroke rate setting (6) (see page 6).
The stroke rate settings (1 ... 5) are to be used only for
brief cuts where, for example, exact cutting along a cut-
ting line is required. This applies in particular to work
with materials with the maximum possible material
thickness.
Do not cut steel sheets where welded. Do not cut lay-
ered sheets exceeding the max. work-piece thickness.
To increase the tool life of punch and die, it is recom-
mended to apply a lubricating agent alongside the
intended cutting line:
– For cuts in steel sheet: Cutting paste or cutting oil,
– For cuts in aluminium: Petroleum.
For inside cuts, a pilot hole is required; see "Technical
Data" for diameters.
Do not switch the power tool off until after having
removed it from the cutting path.
The symptom for worn punches and dies are a clearly
increased feed force at lower working progress.
The punch – not the die – can be reground as long as
the length of the reground punch does not fall below
the minimum die length.

BLK3.5E (**): For template cuts, the template is traced
via the lower cylindrical part of the punch guide. The
clearance between template and the actual cutting edge
is 2.5 mm.
The template should be at least 2 mm thick; the total
thickness of template and work piece may not exceed
5.5 mm.
Features
The restarting protection prevents the power tool from
automatically restarting if the power supply is inter-
rupted during operation. In this case, switch off the
power tool, check the power supply and then switch
the power tool on again.
The electronic stroke rate preselection enables the
speed to be adapted to the respective application and
the respective application tool.
The power tool is fitted with overload and blocking
protection. In case of overload or blocking of the appli-
cation tool, the power supply is interrupted. In this
case, switch the power tool off, remove it from the
workpiece and check the application tool. Afterwards,
switch the power tool on again.
