10 Installing the Robotic Mower
NOTICE
Use only perimeter wire and wire stakes authorized by
STIHL.
NOTICE
The maximum distance between the robotic mower and any
perimeter wire must not be more than 55 ft. (17 m), since
otherwise the wire signal is no longer recognizable.
NOTICE
Especially when installing with a wire laying machine, make
sure that the perimeter wire runs loosely from the spool.
Avoid pulling on the perimeter wire. Tensile stress can lead
to wire breaks.
The perimeter wire (1) is installed on the ground and fixed in
place with wire stakes (2) every 3.3 ft. (1 m). Stakes may
need to be closer together if the ground is uneven. This
prevents the wire from being cut by the mower blade.

► Secure the perimeter wire (1) with a wire stake (2) on the
left side (A) or on the right side (B) of the docking station,
next to a wire channel in the base plate.
► Leave a section of wire (1) with a length of approximately
a = 4.92 ft. (1.5 m). This segment will later be connected
to the docking station.
► Install the perimeter wire on the left side (2) and on the
right side (1) of the docking station (3) in a straight line
with a length of a > 23.6 in. (60 cm) and at right
angles (90°) to the base plate.
► If the "Passage" feature ("Offset Drive Home") in the
installation settings is activated (@ 15.3), this section of
perimeter wire (a) must be longer, at least a = 4.9 ft.
(1.5 m).
