The red pilot light between the VU meters
indicates the unit is ready for recording
operation. The snap-in RECORD button
can be released again by pushing it to-
wards the VU meters. It is also released
automatically when
switching
the unit to
FAST FOREWARD or FAST REWIND ope-
ration.
Setting of recording level
Tune recording level by turning knobs ©
and @. The highest level is set, when the
deflection of the pointers in the VU meters
will nearly reach the 0 dB line (beginning
of the red area) at the loudest passage of
the recorded program.
When the level is too low, the full dyna-
mic range
of your TG 29 is not used,
when the level Is too high, the recording
is distorted.
For stereo recordings the left level con-
trol knob is for the left channel and the
right level knob is for the right channel as
shown by the deflection of the VU meters.
To obtain special recording effects, you
also can use both channels separately.
Therefor move up the button of recording
level 1 @.
Recording from broadcast
transmissions
They can be coupled again by pushing in
knob 1 ® and turing it to the left hand
end or to the right hand end.
Only one VU meter is functioning for mo-
no recordings.
On-tape/off-tape monitoring
By means of special tapeheads and sepa-
rated amplifiers for recording and play-
back, the recording can be controlled
either before the record {source) or di-
rectly after the record (tape). By this, you
can control the quality of the record with-
out rewinding and playing back the tape.
By monitoring the source (off-tape), you
can contro! which program is fed to the
tapehead. The quality of the record, which
is depending on the level setting, tape
speed and quality of tape, can be heard
by monitoring the tape (оп tape).
Monitoring with headphones
Headphones
with 14" coaxial plugs
you can connect to the PHONES mo-
nitor jack @. Now you can monitor
the recording directly from the tape-
deck. With the MONITOR switch @
you
can
choose
between
source
or
tape control, therefor getting a good
comparison between the original and
the record.
Monitoring over the loud-
speakers
When your amplifier is equipped ad-
ditional with a monitor input jack and
a monitor switch, both the tapedeck
monitor jack and the amplifier moni-
tor jack should be connected with an
additional audio cable tor monito-
ting. This monitor connection never
needs to be removed.
1. The tapedeck RADIO jack is connected
to the radio TAPE jack.
2. When your TG 29 and a tuner are con-
nected to a modern stereo amplifier,
you
can
record
broadcast
transmis-
sions without any alteration on the са-
ble connections.
3. If your tuner is equipped with а sepa-
rate TAPE
output
jack,
recordings
of
broadcast transmissions can be made
directly.
Set mode selector @ to the desired
recording position. Set button RECORD
and the recording levels: with coupled
controls for stereophonic recordings,
with decoupled control knob 1 for mo-
naural recordings (pull upward knob
1 and set knob 2 to zero).
Radio loudness
and tone-control
set-
tings have no influence on the record.
Recording with microphones
All dynamic
microphones
with an
impe-
dance of 200 to 700 Ohms can be connec-
ted to your Dual TG 29.
