5.2 General information on program execution
The Cercon heat plus P8 features 8 pre-programmed
heating programs (which can be modified only by
authorized DeguDent service technicians) differentiated
by their temperature/time profiles. The following programs
are available:
P1 – Standard Cercon
®
duration approximately 8 hours
P2 – Standard Cercon
®
duration approximately 8 hours
P1 and P2 are both suitable heating program for the
Cercon
Zirconium application. During a full assembly of
®
all three sintering trays (only Cercon
program P2 is recommended
P3 – Sintering at 1,450 °C, duration approximately 13 hours
(applicable to large-span bridges > 8 units).
P4 – Standard 1,500 °C, duration approximately 8 hours.
THIS PROGRAM IS RESERVED FOR FUTURE CERCON
MATERIALS IN 2011. DONT USE THIS PROGRAMM FOR
CURRENT CERCON BASE PRODUCTS.
P5 – Sintering at 1,500 °C, duration approximately 13 hours
(applicable to large-span bridges > 8 units).
THIS PROGRAM IS RESERVED FOR FUTURE CERCON
MATERIALS IN 2011. DONT USE THIS PROGRAMM FOR
CURRENT CERCON BASE PRODUCTS.
P6 – Reserved
P7 – Reserved
P8 – Service firing, duration approximately 10 hours
The Service firing program P8 serves the silicium oxide
layer of the heating elements for the reconstruction. The
Service fire program is used with the empty furnace in the
following cases:
• After change of the heating elements by the DeguDent
service technician.
• In case of framework-discolorations after very long use of
the furnace.
Notice: The Service firing is accomplished with 1.580 °C
and is not appropriate for the sintering of Cercon
Zirconoxid.
To start a program, the following conditions must be met:
• The temperature inside the sintering chamber is less than
200 °C.
base – Sintering at 1,350 °C,
base – Sintering at 1,450 °C,

• The display indicates that the lifting table was ready to be
lifted by ("rel1") and has been lifted all the way. For your se-
curity the lifting table is driven manually into the final position.
• No program LED (green) is lit.
• No error message is shown (see Error messages and
troubleshooting).
• The lifting table is lifted up
If the heating program has been started by pressing one of
the P1–P8, program keys, the temperature control automati-
cally implements the appropriate temperature profile. Start-
ing the program also activates a safety contact for the oven
heater that remains active until the program has terminated,
unless a failure occurs during the process. In the event of
a failure, the safety contactor for the oven heater turns off
immediately (see Error messages and troubleshooting).
While the program is running, the calculated remaining
execution time, including cooling time, is shown on the
display. The DISPLAY key can be used to alternate between
®
the execution time display and the temperature display.
While the program is running and until the chamber
temperature has fallen below 200 °C, the lifting table
motor is locked by relay #1 (displayed as "rel1") and cannot
be lowered by pressing the rocker switch.
®
The unit has an integrated temperature control function. If
the temperature does not increase within approximately 15
minutes, error message F10 is generated. If the temperature
surpasses the maximum temperature of 1,600 °C, error
message F70 is generated. During the holding time, the
temperature is also controlled; in the event of a discrepancy
of more than ± 10 °C, error message F80 is generated (see
Error messages and troubleshooting).
Once the program has been started, the fan inside the lifting
table is activated automatically. The fan turns off again once
the program has terminated and the temperature has fallen
below 80 °C. Cooling is effected as a natural process after
the oven heater has been turned off. The cooling process
continues until the temperature inside the sintering chamber
has fallen below 200 °C. During the cooling phase, the current
temperature is shown on the display. The unit of temperature
®
can be set to °C or °F (see DISPLAY key, INFO key).
The program terminates as soon as the chamber tempera-
ture has fallen to 200 °C (with a hysteresis of 3 °C).
The green program key LED turns off, and relay #1 unlocks
the lifting table, which can then be lowered manually. The
end of the program run is indicated by an acoustic signal.
