Tighten the rear axle nut to specified torque:

88 N.m (9.0 kgf.m; 65 lbf.ft)
Adjust the drive chain (page 71) and rear brake

pedal free play (page 30).
Apply the brake several times and check for free

wheel rotation after the brake pedal is released.

If a torque wrench was not used for installation,
see your Honda dealer as soon as possible to verify
proper assembly. Improper assembly may lead to
loss of braking capacity.
Brake Pad Wear
(Refer to the Safety Precautions on page 55.)
Brake pad wear depends upon the severity of usage,
the type of riding, and road conditions. (Generally,
the pads will wear faster on wet and dirty roads.)
Inspect the pads at each regular maintenance interval
(page 56).
Front Brake
Check the cutout (1) in each pad. If either pad is worn
to the cutout, replace both pads as a set. See your
Honda dealer for this service.
