3. MODELS: CHARACTERISTICS AND PARTS

The Batecs shown and described in this manual may not be exact-
ly the same as the model you own. However, all of the instructions

There is only one model of the HANDBIKE BATEC HIBRID, named HI-
BRID 2, and it is de signed for users with full use of their hands in its
standard set-up. For users without full use of their hands, we offer con-
trols specially adapted to this situation, sold under the name QUAD.
INFORMATION!
SKILLS NEEDED TO USE THE BATEC HANDBIKES: HANDBIKES BATEC
are only recommended for people with the physical and psychological
conditions to circulate in traffic. The standard HANDBIKE BATEC HI-
BRID models require full use of hands and arms.
To use the models with QUAD controls, users must have good arm
function and partial hand function, enough to accelerate, brake and
turn without danger. This is why BATEC MOBILITY always offers users
the option to test the product before purchasing.

The most serious spinal cord injury compatible with use of the HAND-
BIKE BATEC HIBRID QUAD is functional C6 (good biceps function and
wrist motion is essential).

• Battery: several battery options available:
– 280 Wh (7.8 Ah) battery with 27*-40** km battery life
– 522 Wh (14.5 Ah) battery with 50*-75** km battery life
– 576 Wh (16 Ah) battery with 55*-80** km battery life
* Battery life calculated under the following conditions: 75-kg user, extra-light wheel-
chair, flat terrain, no wind and steady speed of 15 km/h. May vary ±20% depending
on the battery.
** Average battery life combining arms and motor. Depends on the level of electrical
assistance and strength of the user's arms.

• The HANDBIKE BATEC HIBRID power and steering system has a V-0
flammability rating, according to UL94 standards.
