ABSOLUTE FILTERS

Under normal circumstances, the life span of a HEPA filter comprises several years. However,
it will become clogged up gradually, until there is no longer a proper flow-through and the
filter has to be replaced.
After this time, the propelled airflow falls because of the increased pressure drop of the filter
as it is a mechanical filtering, although this does not mean that filtering efficacy is reduced.
When it reaches the minimum flow measured by the thermoanemometric probes, the
microprocessor activates both visual and acoustic alarms.
WARNING
Do not replace absolute filters or directly handle fans in MSCs without having first wiped the
area down with vaporized hydrogen peroxide. Opening the cabinet without taking the proper
precautions can endanger your health. We recommend it is carried out by staff especially
trained for this work.
To ensure correct installation and adjustment of the filter, as well as ensuring there are no
leaks, filters should be replaced by specialised technical staff equipped with the corresponding
monitoring instruments: anemometer, leak detector, aerosol generator, particle counter, etc.
The used clogged absolute filters from safety cabinets should be destroyed. This process is
always the responsibility of the user. Our technical service does not have any responsibility for
possibly contaminated parts.
WARNING
In the cytotoxic cabinets, the replacement of the aspiration filters must be done with safety
conditions keeping the cabinet working and following the instructions described in the Service
Manual.
The pre-filter is assembled under the worktop.
According to EN12469:2000 Annex K the pre-filter needs to be replaced on every
maintenance occasion. Replacement can be done easily following the instructions described in
the Service Manual.
