TWO-STAGE GAS BURNER

It is normally not advisable to connect a burner working on a boiler
for heating water for two-flame working. In this case the burner
can also work for long periods of time with only one flame. The
boiler is insufficiently loaded and so fumes come out at too low
a temperature (less than dew point) giving rise to the presence
of condensation water in the flue. When the two-flame burner is
installed on a boiler for the production of hot water for heating, it must
be connected in such a way as to work normally with both flames
completely stopping, without changing to the first flame, when the
preset temperature has been reached. For this type of operation
the thermostat for the second flame is not installed and a direct
connection is made (jumper) between the equipment's terminals.

SUGGESTIONS FOR CORRECT OPERATION

Analyse combustion gases and check that the emission values are
correct at least once a year, in compliance with current law.
Check the fuel filter: if it is dirty, replace it..
Check that all components of the combustion head are in good
condition, have not been deformed by high temperatures and
contain no impurities or deposits from the installation environment
or from poor combustion; check the efficiency of electrodes. If it is
necessary to clean the outside of the combustion head, take out its
components according to the procedure described below:
- unscrew the anchoring screw (N), and open the ventilating body;
- pull out the ignition and ionisation cables (I) from their electrode
terminals (L);
- remove the nut (Q) from the joint (O) (figure 4) and remove the
entire mixing unit (S) in the direction indicated by the arrow
(figure 7). Having completed the maintenance work, replace
the combustion head, following in reverse order the operations
described above, after having checked the correct position of the
ignition and ionisation electrodes (0002933950).

IONISATION CURRENT MEASUREMENT

The minimum ionisation current needed to run the equipment is 1
µA. The burner flame provides a significantly higher current and
therefore does not normally require any checks from the equipment.
Should the ionisation current need to be measured a microammeter
must be connected in series to the ionisation electrode lead by
opening the connector "16" on the electrical panel.
