OPERATION DESCRIPTION

The gas train supplied is composed of an ON/OFF safety valve and
a single stage slow opening main valve.
The gas flow adjustment in the first and second stage is carried
out by a streamlined butterfly valve (11) activated by the electric
servomotor (9). The movement of the air gate (10) is caused by the
rotation of the servomotor (9) through the lever and tie rod system
(3). For the adjustment of the air gate position according to the power
burned in the first and second stage, consult section: "IGNITION
AND ADJUSTMENT". If when the main switch (1) is closed, the
thermostats are closed, the voltage reaches the command and
control equipment which starts the burner (2).
This turns on the fan motor (3) for pre-ventilation of the combustion
chamber. At the same time the rotation of the control servomotor
(9), using the action of leverage, brings the gas butterfly valve (11)
and the air gate (10) in the opening position corresponding to the
second flame. The pre-ventilation phase occurs only with the air
gate in the second flame position. At the end of the pre-ventilation
phase, the gas butterfly valve and the air gate are returned to the
first flame position, then the ignition transformer (4) switches on
and, 2 seconds later, the gas valves (5) open.
The presence of the flame, detected by the control device, permits
continuation and completion of ignition, turning off the ignition
transformer. Then the passage to the second power stage is
performed through the progressive opening of the gas butterfly
valve and the air gate at the same time. When the demand for heat
from the system is satisfied, the boiler thermostat will intervene
and shut down the burner. The air gate through the rotation of the
servomotor will reach the closed position when inactive.

In the event that the control device does not detect the presence
of a flame, the equipment activates a "safety shut down" (7) within
3 seconds after the opening of the main gas valve. In "safety lock-
out" mode the valves are closed again immediately. To release the
equipment from its safety position you have to press the release
button (8).

TWO-STAGE GAS BURNER

It is normally not advisable to connect a burner working on a boiler
for heating water for two-flame working. In this case the burner
can also work for long periods of time with only one flame. The
boiler is insufficiently loaded and so the fumes come out at too
low a temperature (less than dew point) giving rise to the presence
of condensation water in the flue. When the two-flame burner is
installed on a boiler for the production of hot water for heating, it must
be connected in such a way as to work normally with both flames
completely stopping, without changing to the first flame, when the
preset temperature has been reached. For this type of operation
the thermostat for the second flame is not installed and a direct
connection is made (jumper) between the equipment's terminals.
