Regular use of the filter cleaning function will increase the
service life of the filter.
In order to achieve an optimum filter service life, deactivate
the automatic filter cleaning function only in exceptional
cases, e.g. for wet extraction.
Manual Filter Cleaning
Press the automatic filter cleaning button (10) to activate
manual filter cleaning. This deactivates automatic filter
cleaning and LED indicator A (5) goes out.
Press the manual filter cleaning button (9) to run manual fil-
ter cleaning. The flat-pleated filter (34) is cleaned using 2
blasts of air. The LED indicator M (6) will light up white for
2 s. If LED indicator M (6) goes out, the next blast of air can
be triggered. To do this, press the manual filter cleaning
button (9) again.
Note: For manual filter cleaning, please note that the time in-
terval between each time a button is pressed should be 2–
3 s. Continuously pressing the manual filter cleaning
button (9) multiple times will cause the over-temperature
protection of the dust extractor to be activated. The over-
temperature protection will be automatically suspended
after a while (see "Rectifying Errors", page 27).
To switch off the manual filter cleaning, press the automatic
filter cleaning button (10).
A flat-pleated filter with surface dirt is still fully functional. It
is not necessary to clean the flat-pleated filter manually by
shaking or blowing it out; this may even damage the filter.
Maintenance and service
Maintenance and Cleaning
Pull the plug out of the socket before cleaning or per-

forming maintenance on the vacuum cleaner, making
tool adjustments, changing accessories or putting
away the vacuum cleaner. This safety measure prevents
the vacuum cleaner from being started accidentally.
To ensure safe and efficient operation, always keep

the dust extractor and the ventilation slots clean.
Wear a dust mask when servicing and cleaning the va-
u
cuum cleaner.
In order to avoid safety hazards, if the power supply cord
needs to be replaced, this must be done by Bosch or by an
after-sales service centre that is authorised to repair Bosch
power tools.
For the user to carry out maintenance, the dust extractor
needs to be disassembled, cleaned and maintained as far as
this is possible without endangering maintenance personnel
or other persons. Before disassembly, the dust extractor
should be cleaned to prevent any potential hazards. The
room/enclosure in which the dust extractor is disassembled
should be well ventilated. Wear personal protective equip-
ment while carrying out maintenance. After completing
maintenance, the maintenance area should be cleaned.
An inspection regarding the dust extraction capability must
be carried out at least once a year by the manufacturer or
someone who has been trained, e.g. to check for filter dam-

age, that the dust extractor is tight and that the control unit
is functioning correctly.
Class M dust extractors that have been in dirty environments
should have their exteriors, as well as all their components,
cleaned. Suction, wipe down and seal the outside of the dust
extractor before removing it from the danger zone. When
performing maintenance and repair work, all dirty parts that
cannot be cleaned satisfactorily must be disposed of. Such
parts must be disposed of in impermeable bags in accord-
ance with the valid provisions for disposing of such waste.
Cleaning the container
Wipe the container (1) from time to time using a non-abras-
ive off-the-shelf cleaning product and leave it to dry.
Cleaning/Changing the Flat-Pleated Filter
(see figures M–N)
Hold the filter cover by the closing flap whilst opening

it, and make sure that the opened filter cover clicks
into the vertical position. There is a risk of injury if the
filter cover falls down.
The suction power is dependent on the condition of the fil-
ter. Therefore, the filter should be cleaned regularly.
If the flat-pleated filter (34) becomes damaged, replace it
immediately.
– Before each time you clean/replace the flat-pleated
filter (34), remove the vacuum hose (30) and insert the
sealing plug (23) into the hose adapter (3).
– Pull on the closing flap (41) and twist the filter cover (40)
upwards until it clicks into the vertical position.
– Hold the flat-pleated filter (34) by the supports and take
it out from above.
– Use a damp cloth to remove any dust and dirt that ac-
crues around the edge of the container (1) when remov-
ing the flat-pleated filter (34).
– The flat-pleated filter can be rinsed out under running wa-
ter.
– Insert the cleaned (or a new) flat-pleated filter (34), en-
suring that it is positioned correctly and securely.
– Close the filter cover (40), ensuring you hear it click into
place.
Cleaning the Pre-Filter (see figure O)
The pre-filter must not be wet cleaned.

Do not reach between the guide handle and the dust
u
extractor from above in order to unlock to pre-filter
cover. Otherwise, your hand might get caught.
Pull the guide handle (15) up until the pre-filter cover is
freely accessible from the rear.
Press the release button (29) of the pre-filter cover (28) and
take it from the pre-filter compartment.
Remove the pre-filter (42).
Brush down the flaps of the pre-filter with a soft brush.
Place the pre-filter into the pre-filter cover (28).
Place the pre-filter cover (28) into the pre-filter compart-
ment and fold it in.
