4.2 Machine-specific safety information
• WARNING – Never operate the machine without
a filter!
• WARNING – This machine is not suitable for the
removal of flammable and explosive dusts or liq-
uids! The vacuuming of hazardous materials may
result in serious or fatal injuries!
• The following are examples of materials, which
additionally must not be removed with the
vacuum cleaner:
- hot, burning, smoldering, blazing or easily flam-
mable materials like lit cigarettes, hot ashes, wood
chips or similar
- flammable, explosive and aggressive liquids or
organic solvents like benzene, heating oil, acetone,
paint thinners, varnishes, solvents or cleaning
products, acids, bases, or similar
- flammable and/or explosive dusts like magnesi-
um dust, aluminium dust, zinc dust, plastics dust,
coal dust, flour dust, starchy dust or similar
- reactive gases and vapours, e.g. ammonia, hydro-
gen chloride, petrol fumes or similar
- sharp-edged and pointy small parts, e.g. glass
shards, nails, screws or similar
- small creatures like ants, spiders or flies
• WARNING – Devices with the dust class L cer-
tification can be used for the removal of slightly
health-hazardous materials in compliance with its
intended use. You should therefore wear protec-
tive goggles and at least a P2 breathing mask
when carrying out maintenance tasks. These de-
vices contain health-hazardous dust, which is why
all evacuation and maintenance procedures are to
be carried out by relevantly instructed specialists,
who are wearing relevant personal protection and
who have read these operating instructions.
• WARNING – Adequate ventilation must be pro-
vided in rooms where exhaust air is recirculated.
Please seek relevant information about legisla-
tive requirements in your country regarding the
recommended air exchange rate.
• CAUTION – The device must only be connected
6 GB
to mains sockets with a voltage and frequency that
matches the information provided on the type
plate of the vacuum cleaner and which comply
with IEC 60364-1!
• WARNING – Never touch the mains plug, wall
socket, power cable or the ON/OFF switch with wet
or moist hands.
• Make sure that all operating components are
functional before starting work.
• CAUTION – Only connect electric devices to the
power socket of the vacuum cleaner that comply
with appropriate target connection values.
• WARNING – Never operate the device if there is
any visible damage on the cable, any part of the
housing or other device components/accessories
and contact MENZER Service.
• After a fall of the device, check the housing for
visible damage. Contact your MENZER repair ser-
vice for repairs of any damaged parts before the
device is used again. A damaged vacuum cleaner
may cause injuries or negatively impact the han-
dling of the device and its accessories.
• The use of damaged vacuum cleaners is prohib-
ited. Before each use, or if the vacuum cleaner has
had a fall or has suffered any other external im-
pact, the device must be checked for damage and
repaired as needed; please contact our MENZER
repair service.
• Switch off the device immediately if it produces
unusual noises or if you feel unusual vibration;
make sure to contact our MENZER repair service.
• Please read Chapter 6 – Maintenance and service
in case of any doubts regarding care or mainte-
nance.
• WARNING – Disconnect the device from mains
power before opening the vacuum cleaner or
replacing the cartridge filter and fleece filter bag to
reduce the risk of injury from electric shock. The
mains plug must be disconnected before carrying
out any maintenance work on the device. Please
read Chapter 6 – Maintenance and service.
• ATTENTION – Never operate the vacuum cleaner
with incorrectly installed, defective, missing or
worn cartridge filter and/or incorrectly installed,
torn or missing fleece filter bag and immediately
switch off the machine if you detect such a defect.
Ensure the correct seating of these components
and only commission the device if these prereq-
uisites are met. Please read Chapter 5 – General
description of the device and Chapter 6 – Mainte-
nance and service.
• Regularly clean the ventilation slits on the device
to maintain proper cooling and to prevent electri-
cally conductive dust deposits, as these pose an
electrocution or short circuit hazard. Make sure to
first disconnect the device from mains power.
• Maintain the vacuum cleaner with care. Ensure
that all moving parts function correctly, nothing is
pinched, broken or otherwise damaged in such a
way that could negatively impact the function of
the vacuum cleaner. Any damaged parts must be
repaired by MENZER Service before the device can
be operated.
• Avoid accidents by ensuring that the vacuum
cleaner can not be inadvertently activated before
connecting the device to the mains socket.
• Immediately disconnect the machine from mains
electricity and roll up the power cable when taking
a break or finishing work for the day.
• Keep the grips and grip areas dry, clean and free
from oil or grease.
• Caution! Fire hazard! Avoid overheating of the
material to be vacuumed. Always empty the dust
collection container before taking a work break.
Sanding dust in the fleece filter bag can under
some circumstances (e.g. flying sparks) spontane-
ously combust. The fire hazard increases when
sanding wood and/or the sanding dust mixes with
varnish or polyurethane residues or other chemi-
cal components and the workpiece heats up after
an extended work session.
• Do not pull the electric cable across sharp edges,
as this might result in kinks or tears in the cable,
which could cause additional damage.
• Never pull on the electric cable and only grab the
actual plug to unplug the electric power tool. Do not
suspend the device by its power cable.
• Never use the power cable as a carry handle.
• Keep the power cable away from the suction zone.
• Reduce the risk of electrocution by keeping the
power cable at a safe distance from rotating parts
in the vicinity of the vacuum cleaner. That will mini-
mise the risk of damage to the cable insulation or
cutting through the cable with rotating parts, and
will also prevent the cable looping around your
hand, arm or leg.
• Never pull up the vacuum cleaner using a crane
hook.
• Disconnect the mains plug immediately if the
power cable is damaged.
• Do not attempt to make technical changes to the
device.
• Never use the device as a water pump.
• WARNING – Do not use water or other liquid
cleaning agents to clean the device as this could
result in fatal electric shocks.
• Keep the device or the vacuum cleaner away
from rain and moisture.
• In order to prevent short-circuiting and other
damage, never clean the device with a water jet or
by submerging it in water.
• Switch off the device immediately in case of foam
formation or emanations of dust or liquid. Discon-
nect the device power plug and empty the device.
Please read Chapter 6 – Maintenance and service
and Chapter 7 – Error handling and troubleshoot-
ing.
• Set the ON/OFF switch to the 0 position and
disconnect the device power plug from mains
electricity if the device switches off inadvertently.
Please read chapter 7 – Error handling and trou-
bleshooting and/or contact the MENZER repair
service.
• Use only MENZER-recommended, undamaged
accessories and spare parts matching the intend-
ed use and the device dimensions, e.g. cartridge
filters and fleece filter bags, to prevent malfunc-
tions and loss of control over the device.
