► Take hold of flap (1) by handle (2), open it as
far as it will go and hold it open.
► Hold battery (3) and press locking lever (4).
The battery is released.
► Remove battery (3).
► Close flap (1).

Activating the Blade
► Do not tilt the lawn mower.
► Place the lawn mower on a level surface.
► Press locking button (1) with the right hand
and hold.
► Pull control bar for mowing (2) with the left
hand fully in the direction of handlebar (3) and
hold so the thumb encloses handlebar (3).
The blade rotates.
► Release locking button (1).
► Hold handlebar (3) and control bar for mow‐
ing (2) with the right hand so the thumb enclo‐
ses handlebar (3).

Deactivating the Blade
► Release the control bar for mowing.
► Wait until the blade is no longer turning.
► If the blade continues to turn: remove the bat‐
tery and consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
The lawn mower is defective.

10.2.1
Engaging Self-propulsion
► Place the lawn mower on a level surface.
► Activate the blade.
► Pull control bar for self-propulsion (1) fully in
the direction of handlebar (2) and hold so the
thumb encloses handlebar (2).
The lawn mower starts moving.

Disengaging Self-propulsion
► Release the control bar for self-propulsion.
► Wait until the lawn mower comes to a stand‐
still.
► If the lawn mower continues moving: remove
the battery and consult a STIHL specialist
dealer.
The lawn mower is defective.

Checking the Controls
Locking button and control bar for mowing
► Remove the battery.
► Press the locking button and release it again.
► Pull the control bar for mowing fully in the
direction of the handlebar and release again.
► If the locking button or the control bar for mow‐
ing is stiff or does not spring back into the ini‐
tial position: do not use the lawn mower and
consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
The locking button or the control bar for mow‐
ing is defective.
Control bar for self-propulsion
► Remove the battery.
► Pull the control bar for self-propulsion fully in
the direction of the handlebar and release
again.
► If the control bar for self-propulsion is stiff or
does not spring back into the initial position:
do not use the lawn mower and consult a
STIHL specialist dealer.
The control bar for self-propulsion is defective.
