320-E Press Tool
• Unplug the charger when not in use. Reduces risk
of injury to children and untrained persons.
• Always cover the battery terminals with the battery
cover when the battery cartridge is not used. Re-
duces risk of electrical shock.
• Do not charge battery pack in damp or wet envi-
ronment. Do not expose to rain or snow. Increases
the risk of electrical shock.
Battery Disposal
WARNING
Do not attempt to disassemble the battery
or remove any component projecting from the battery
terminals. Fire or injury may result. Prior to disposal, pro-
tect exposed terminals with heavy insulating tape to pre-
vent shorting.
Nickel-cadmium Batteries
If equipped with a nickel-cadmium battery, the battery
must be collected, recycled or disposed of in an environ-
mentally sound manner.
Please call 1-800-8 BATTERY for information on Ni-Cd
battery recycling and disposal bans/restrictions in your
area.
Nickel-metal Hydride Batteries
If equipped with a nickel-metal hydride battery, the battery
can be disposed of in a municipal solid waste stream.
Description and Specifications
Description
The 320-E Press Tool, when used with appropriate jaw
sets or press rings, is designed to mechanically press fit-
tings onto tubing to create a water-tight and permanent
seal. When the switch on the 320-E is depressed, an inter-
nal electric motor powers a hydraulic pump which forces
fluid into the cylinder of the tool, forcing the ram forward
and applying thousands of pounds of pressing force onto
specially designed fittings.
The entire cycle duration is approximately seven (7) sec-
onds. Once the cycle begins to deform a fitting, it will auto-
matically continue until completion. The 320-E Press
Tool contains several advanced diagnostic features to
assure press joint integrity. Once properly calibrated, the
tool monitors ram travel to assure that jaw sets or actua-
tor/ring fully close with each press cycle. This allows
detection of any foreign material that might prevent com-
plete closure. The LED display on the top of the tool
indicates problems such as low battery, improper tem-
perature, open jaw mounting pin or obstruction.

Inspecting the Press Tool, Jaw
Sets and Press Rings
To prevent serious injury, inspect the 320-E Press
Tool, battery charger, jaw sets, press rings and
actuators. Never use the 320-E jaw set, actuator or
press ring with damaged or missing parts. The fol-
lowing inspection procedures should be performed
on a daily basis:
1. Make sure the 320-E Press Tool battery is removed.
2. Inspect the tool housing and switch for damage.
Check for damage such as cracks in the tool housing
and exposed wires.
