However, if the power tool is used for other applica-
tions, with deviating application tools or insufficient
maintenance, the overall vibration values and the noise
emission values may differ. This can significantly
increase the vibration and noise exposure over the total
working period.
For an accurate estimation of vibration and noise expo-
sure, the durations when the equipment is switched off
or running but not actually in use should also be taken
into account. This may significantly reduce the vibration
and noise exposure over the total working period.
Identify additional safety measures to protect the
operator from the effects of vibration and noise
such as: Maintain the power tool and the accesso-
ries, keep the hands warm, organization of work
patterns.
Handling hazardous dusts
For work procedures with this power tool where
material is removed, dusts develop that can be hazard-
ous to one's health.
Contact with or inhaling some dust types, e. g. asbestos
and asbestos-containing materials, lead-containing coat-
ings, metal, some wood types, minerals, silicate parti-
cles from materials containing stone, paint solvents,
wood preservatives, antifouling paints for vessels, can
trigger allergic reactions to the operator or bystanders
and/or lead to respiratory infections, cancer, birth
defects or other reproductive harm. The risk from
inhaling dusts depends on the exposition. Use dust
extraction matched appropriately for the developing
dust, as well as personal protective equipment and pro-
vide for good ventilation of the workplace. Leave the
processing of asbestos-containing materials to special-
ists.
Wood and light-metal dust, hot mixtures of grinding
dust and chemical materials can self-ignite under unfa-
vourable conditions or cause an explosion. Avoid
sparking in the direction of the dust collector as well as
overheating of the power tool and the materials being
sanded, empty the dust collector/container in time,
observe the material manufacturer's working instruc-
tions, as well as the relevant regulations in your country
for the materials being worked.
Operating Instructions.
Adjust the rotational direction switch and the gear
switch only when the machine is at a complete stop.
Always push the gear switch through to the stop. Oth-
erwise, the machine can become damaged.
Thermal overload of the power tool is indicated
through flashing of the LED in the handle.
In case of overload, the machine switches off.
To avoid accidental starting, e. g., during transport, set
the rotation selector switch to the centre position.
Setting the torque
The torque setting is for the small to mid-size screw
range.
Securing cable
For working aloft, FEIN offers suitable securing cables
for the product as accessories.
Do not exceed the maximum load
WARNING
specified on the securing cable.
Otherwise, serious or fatal injuries may result.
Observe the safety and operating instructions enclosed
with the securing cable.
Connect the securing cable to the intended fastening
point of the power tool only as shown (see page 15).
Handling the battery.
Charge the battery only at a temperature range from
0 °C ... 35 °C (32 °F ... 95 °F). At the beginning of the
charging procedure, the battery temperature must be
within the battery operating-temperature range.
Charge-control Indicator on the Battery (see
page 14).
The charge condition can be indicated by the green
LEDs of the charge-control indicator on the battery.
Press the charge-control indicator button
to indicate the charge condition.
When no LED lights up after pressing the charge-con-
trol indicator button, the battery is defective and must
be replaced.
ASB18 Q AS (**): Use of accessories with acti-
vated impact function
With activated impact function, only the drill chuck
from our accessories program may be used. When
using other QuickIN accessories, the power tool, the
application tool, the accessory or the workpiece can
become damaged.
Transport.
The Li-ion batteries are subject to the Dangerous
Goods Legislation requirements. The user can trans-
port the batteries by road without further require-
ments.
When being transported by third parties (e.g.: air trans-
port or forwarding agency), special requirements on
packaging and labelling must be observed. For prepara-
tion of the item being shipped, consulting an expert for
hazardous material is required.
Dispatch batteries only when the housing is undam-
aged. Tape or mask off open contacts and pack up the
battery in such a manner that it cannot move around in
the packaging. Please also observe possibly more
detailed national regulations.
