bility of wheel breakage. Flanges for cut-off
wheels may be different from grinding wheel
fl anges.
Do not use worn down wheels from larger
power tools. Wheel intended for larger power
tool is not suitable for the higher speed of a
smaller tool and may burst.
Safety Rules specifi c for Wire Brushing
operations
Be aware that wire bristles are thrown
by the brush even during ordinary op-
eration. Do not overstress the wires by
applying excessive load to the brush. The
wire bristles can easily penetrate light cloth-
ing and/or skin.
If the use of a guard is recommended for
wire brushing, do not allow any interfer-
ence of the wire wheel or brush with the
guard. Wire wheel or brush may expand in
diameter due to work load and centrifugal
forces.

2.3 Emission levels

Levels determined in accordance with EN
50144 are typically:
Sound pressure level
Noise level
Measuring uncertainty allowance
Wear ear protection.
Measured acceleration

2.4 Metal processing

When processing metal, the following
measures must be taken for safety rea-
sons:
Add a residual-current circuit-breaker (FI,
PRCD).
Connect the machine to a suitable dust
extractor.
Regularly remove dust deposits in the mo-
tor housing.
Wear protective goggles.

Power supply and start-up

Observe the mains voltage: The voltage
and frequency of the power source must
comply with the specifi cations on the ma-
chine's identifi cation plate.
In North America, only Festool ma-
chines with the voltage specifi cations
120 V/60 Hz may be used.
On/Off switch
To switch on: Push the switch (1.1) forwards
until it engages.
To switch off: Press on the end of the switch
(1.1). This releases the switch locking in the
ON position and the switch moves to the OFF
position.

The machine features full-wave electronics
with the following properties:
Smooth start-up
The electronically controlled smooth start-up
ensures that the machine starts up jolt-free.
Speed adjustment
You can regulate the speed steplessly between
1350 and 3800 rpm using the adjusting wheel
(4.1). This enables you to optimise the cutting
82 dB(A)
speed to suit the material (see section 6).
93 dB(A)
Constant speed
K = 4 dB
The preselected motor speed remains constant
through electronic control. This ensures a uni-
form cutting speed even when under strain.
< 2.5 m/s
2
Temperature cut-out
To protect against overheating (burning out of
motor), an electronic temperature monitoring
system has been installed. Prior to reaching
a critical motor temperature, the safety elec-
tronics switches off the motor. After a cooling
time of approx. 3-5 minutes, the machine can
be operated again at full load. The machine
requires less time to cool down if it is running,
i.e. in neutral.
5
5.1 Extraction hood AH-RAS115
You can connect a Festool extractor to the ex-
tractor connector (4.2). The extractor hose in
the Festool extractor is 27 mm in diameter.
Always adjust the brush ring (4.3) with the
rotary knob (4.4) in fl ying direction of the
sanding dust.
14
Electronics
Do not operate the tool if the electronics
are faulty as this can lead to the tool oper-
ating at excessive speeds. If the start-up
is not smooth or speed adjustment is not
possible, this indicates that the electronics
are faulty.

Machine settings

Always pull the plug out of the socket be-
fore any type of work on the machine.
