Working with the machine

Do not overload the machine by pressing with
excessive force! The best sanding results are
achieved with moderate press-on pressure.
The sanding output and quality are mainly
dependent on the selection of the correct
abrasive.
For machines with electronics systems, we
recommend the following setting for the ad-
justing wheel (4.1):
6
Sanding painted metal to remove rust
Sanding of hard GRP components (limited
suitability)
4 - 6
Sanding old paint
3 - 6
Removal of anti-fouling paints
Sanding of wood
2 - 4
Sanding paint/varnish with tendency to
smear
Light sanding of thin top coats of paint
Cleaning sandstone, concrete, shuttering
material
1 - 2
Sanding of thermoplastics
Smoothing treated woods with sanding
brush

Accessories
Use only original Festool accessories and Fes-
tool consumable material designed for this
machine because these system components
are designed specifi cally for the machine.
Using accessories and consumable material
from other suppliers will most likely affect the
quality of your working results and limit any
warranty claims. Machine wear or your own
personal workload may increase depending
on the application. Protect yourself and your
machine, and preserve your warranty claims
by always using original Festool accessories
and Festool consumable material!
Use only original Festool sanding pads. Low-
quality sanding pads may cause serious machine
imbalance that decreases the quality of the work-
ing results and increase machine wear.
The order numbers of the accessories
and tools can be found in the Festool
catalogue or on the Internet under "www.
festool.com".

Service and maintenance

Always pull the plug out of the socket be-
fore any type of work on the machine!
All maintenance and repair work which
requires the motor housing to be opened,
must only be carried out by an authorised
service workshop.
To ensure constant air circulation, always keep
the cooling-air openings in the motor housing
clean and free of blockages.
The machine is equipped with self-disconnect-
ing special carbon brushes. If they are worn,
power is interrupted automatically and the
machine comes to a standstill.

Warranty
Our equipment is under warranty for at least
12 months with regard to material or pro-
duction faults in accordance with national
legislation. In the EU countries, the warranty
period is 24 months (an invoice or delivery
note is required as proof of purchase). Dam-
age resulting from, in particular, normal wear
and tear, o-verloading, improper handling, or
caused by the user or other damage caused
by not following the operating instructions,
or any fault acknowledged at the time of
purchase, is not covered by the warranty.
Damage caused by the use of non-original
accessories and consumable material (e.g.
sanding pads) is also excluded. Complaints
will only be acknowledged if the equipment
has not been dismantled before being sent
back to the suppliers or to an authorised Fes-
tool customer support workshop. Store the
operating instructions, safety notes, spare
parts list and proof of purchase in a safe place.
In addition, the manufacturer's current war-
ranty conditions apply.
