Dear Patient, you have been found to be
suffering from a venous disorder. Your
compression stocking is the first step
towards healthier veins. Most venous
disorders are not recognised as such
and, therefore, go untreated. You will
soon notice that your mediven
compression stocking is not only
medically effective, but that it also
makes a major contribution to your
total wellbeing. As a manufacturer of

What functions do the veins fulfill in
the blood circulation?
All the cells in our bodies have to be
supplied with the necessary nutrients
and oxygen. This is done by the arteries.
These substances are exchanged in the
tiny hair-like blood vessels, the
capillaries. The veins then transport the
used blood back to the heart and the
organs that will clean it. The used blood
also passes through the lungs where it is
recharged with oxygen. Besides this
transport function the veins also have
reservoir and climatic functions. When it
is hot the veins expand so they can hold
more blood which is then cooled at the
skin surface.
What encourages the development of
varicose veins?
