SATAjet X 5500 RP/HVLP PHASER Operating Manual
9.1. Replacing the Nozzle Set
and [7-6]
Every SATA nozzle set consists of "paint needle" [7-1], "air cap" [7-2]
and "fluid tip" [7-3] and has been hand-adjusted to provide a perfect
spray pattern. Lubricate both paint needle [7-1] in the paint needle area
(approx. 3 cm before the needle sleeve, paint needle spring) and material
flow control screw [1-11]. Therefore, always exchange the complete noz-
zle set. After installation, please adjust material flow according to chapter
7.2.
9.2. Replacing the Paint Needle Sealing
[8-2] and [8-3]
Replacement is required when spray medium escapes from the self-ad-
justing paint needle packing. Remove trigger after [8-2]. After removal,
check paint needle for damage and replace nozzle set if necessary. The
air micrometer must be removed [9-1] – [9-4] before removing the trig-
ger [8-2]. After assembly, set the material flow rate as instructed in Chap-
ter 7.2.
9.3. Replacing the Air Piston, Air Piston Spring
and Air Micrometer
• Disconnect the spray gun from the compressed air circuit!
This must be exchanged if air is leaking from the air nozzle or the air
micrometer while the trigger is not pulled. After disassembly, grease air
micrometer shell with SATA gun lubricant (item no. 48173), use with air
piston and tighten locking screw using original SATA combination tool
with max. 1 Nm. [9-1]. After installation, set material throughput according
to chapter 7.2.
• Check if the locking screw has been firmly tightened! The air microm-
eter could shoot out from the spray gun uncontrolled!
