5.2
Clamping/unclamping the wheel
The electric controller is so designed that after turning
on the mains switch the clamping jaws remain in
their instantaneous position and any change must be
effected intentionally by actuating the pedal.
5.2.1
Clamping the wheel
Note:
Before clamping the wheel make sure the contact
surfaces on wheel adaptor and rim are free from
dirt and grease.
• Move the clamping jaws to unclamped position
(Fig. 5-5).
• Slide the centring cone or centring ring (chosen
function of centre bore diameter of the wheel) on
the main shaft (Fig. 5-6).
• Bring the wheel near to the centring cone or ring.
• WITH YOUR LEFT HAND hold the wheel vertical.
• WITH YOUR RIGHT HAND, grip the plastic sleeve
of the selected clamping adapter, fi t it on the shaft
and press fi rmly against the wheel (Fig. 5-7).
CAUTION: HAND CRUSHING HAZARD. COMPLY
WITH THE MOVEMENTS INDICATED.
— Lift the pedal (Fig. 5-8).
— Check that the wheel is securely clamped by the
clamping adapter before the measuring run.
Warnings:
If during clamping the pedal is operated a second time,
clamping is interrupted and the clamping jaws return
to the home position.
The ESC, STOP and Electromechanical STOP keys,
if pressed during Power Clamp operation, also interrupt
clamping.
The measuring run can only be carried out if the wheel
is correctly clamped and the wheel guard is closed.
5.2.2
Unclamping the wheel
Note:
While the jaws unclamp, support the wheel WITH
YOUR LEFT HAND so that it will not tilt when
unclamped.
— Lift the pedal (Fig. 5-8).
— Remove the clamping sleeve from the shaft.
— Remove the wheel.
