5 .2 SERVICING THE CLAMPING
MECHANISM
Use the lubricating grease specified
in the technical data, see
Chapter 2.9.
For this operation, parts of the
setting tool have to be removed,
see Chapter 5.7.1.
Precondition:
•
The tool is disconnected from the compressed
air supply.
•
A grease-dissolving cleaning agent is on hand.
•
The necessary wrenches are on hand, see
Chapter 5.7.2.
1. Loosen and remove the nosepiece using the
appropriate wrench.
2. If the setting tool has a contact force control
system, remove the contact force control
system (see Chapter 5.7.4.1) and continue at
work step 5.
3. Loosen the front sleeve using the appropriate
wrench and remove together with the O-ring.
4. If the setting tool has an axial trigger, loosen
the axial adapter using the appropriate wrench
and remove.
5. Loosen the clamping sleeve using the two
appropriate wrenches and remove together
with the clamping jaws in the clamping sleeve.
6. Remove the clamping jaws from the clamping
sleeve.
7. Remove the pressure spring and guide sleeve.
8. Loosen the spacer using the two appropriate
wrenches and remove together with the O-ring.
9. Remove the vacuum nozzle from the plunger
rod.
10. Inspect all parts for recognisable signs of wear,
damage and soiling.
11. Replace worn or damaged parts and clean
soiled parts.
12. Grease the outer surfaces (smooth surfaces)
of the clamping jaws with lubricating grease.
13. Place the clamping jaws into the clamping
sleeve so that the smooth surfaces contact the
clamping sleeve and the narrower sides of the
clamping jaws are facing towards the narrower
side of the clamping sleeve, see Figure h.
14. Insert the vacuum nozzle into the plunger rod.
15. Grease the spacer O-ring with lubricating
grease.
16. Screw in the spacer together with the O-ring
and tighten using the two appropriate
wrenches.
