9 Troubleshooting
Malfunction
The fastener is not gripped.
The fastener is not set.
Noticeable deterioration in
stroke
The extraction system is not
functioning.
The setting tool does not
react.
The fastener is not set
correctly.
The fastener cannot be
inserted into the setting tool.
Possible cause
The clamping jaws are worn or
soiled.
The pressure spring is too short.
Insufficient oil in the setting tool.
The setting tool is not connected to
the compressed air supply.
Insufficient oil in the setting tool.
Increased oil loss
The O-ring on the spacer is
defective.
Sheared rivet mandrels have
blocked the vacuum nozzle.
Sheared rivet mandrels have
blocked the stud discharge tube.
The setting tool is overfilled with
oil.
The setting tool is defective.
Wrong combination of part,
nosepiece and fastener
The drill hole for the fastener is not
as specified.
The setting tool is overfilled with
oil.
Remedy
Service the clamping mechanism
and clean or replace wear parts as
necessary, see Chapter 5.2.
Fill the setting tool with hydraulic oil,
see Chapter 5.4.
Connect the setting tool to the
compressed air supply, see
Chapter 3.5.
Fill the setting tool with hydraulic oil,
see Chapter 5.4.
Send the setting tool to HONSEL
Service, see Chapter 5.5.
Service the clamping mechanism and
replace the O-ring on the spacer if
necessary, see Chapter 5.2.
Service the clamping mechanism and
replace the vacuum nozzle if necessary,
see Chapter 5.2.
Send the setting tool to HONSEL
Service, see Chapter 5.5.
• Switch off the compressed air supply.
• Loosen the oil drain plug.
• Fit the adapter.
• Push the syringe onto the adapter.
• Observe the instructions in
Chapter 5.4.
If the syringe is filled without pressing
the trigger, the setting tool was
overfilled.
Send the setting tool to HONSEL
Service, see Chapter 5.5.
Contact HONSEL Service, we will be
happy to advise you.
Remove the fastener from the part, see
Chapter 4.7 and compare the actual
drill hole size with the required drill hole
size.
• Switch off the compressed air supply.
• Loosen the oil drain plug.
• Fit the adapter.
• Push the syringe onto the adapter.
• Observe the instructions in
Chapter 5.4.
If the syringe is filled without pressing
the trigger, the setting tool was
overfilled.
