Adjusting the Trigger

Adjust the Diffuse Trigger (P/N 340 277)
Use this procedure to adjust the diffuse reflective
trigger to detect a product that contrasts (light or dark)
with the background seen by the trigger when no
product is present. Refer to the instructions provided
with the trigger for additional information.
1. Remove the acrylic cover from the back of the
trigger.
2. Confirm that both the GAIN and LIGHT/DARK
adjustments are turned fully clockwise.
NOTE: The GAIN adjustment is clutched and will click
when it reaches the end of its range. The
LIGHT/DARK adjustment has two distinct positions,
one at either end of its adjustment range.
3. Turn the system power switch on.
4. With no product present, adjust the GAIN
counterclockwise until the LED turns off.
5. While watching the red LED on the trigger, move a
product down the production line and past the
trigger. The LED should turn on when the product
is in front of the trigger.
If the LED did not turn on when the product was in
front of the trigger:

increase the background-to-product contrast,
and then repeat step 5.

consider using the retroreflective-type trigger
(P/N 340 274)
6. While watching the yellow trigger light on the
control unit, move a product down the production
line and past the trigger. The yellow trigger light
should turn on when the product is in front of the
trigger.
If the yellow trigger light turned off, turn the
LIGHT/DARK adjustment to its fully
counterclockwise position, and then repeat step 6
to confirm that the trigger light turns on when a
product is in front of the trigger.
